I've got a problem with my computer. It's like when I turn on, the windowsXP starts loading for a second and stops and restarts itself and then the same thing repeats.
It doesn't restart when I load BIOS but yes it restarts when windowsXP starts loading, now does that mean I can never get my computer turned on unless I repair or what?
[when I turn the computer on it says " We apologize for the inconvinience, windows did not start normally" and it shows the boot options and I tried all of them but it's the same thing, keeps restarting itself but I can only get to the BIOS mode and I don't think I have installed any hardware or software reecently, last time it worked normally, I turned it off and I tried turning it on after an hour or so and that happened]

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

so when you insert your CD in drive, shut off your computer and restart...does your CD turn at all? you hear your CD turning? if you do, then your computer should read the XP cd..

please clearly state what happens after you push the power button!

put a screen shot, possibly! hehe..JK

Hey Pink,
Lemme provide you a suggestion as well. Looks like all you care about is your DATA from your hard drive and currently you are not being able to boot from your CD/DVD drive. Try this:
Disconnect the hard drive off your computer (Its pretty simple, all you do is unplug it from power cable inside the box and slide it out of its slot).
Find a good working machine (may be one of ur fren's), and plug your hard drive into that computer. This should be the secondary device for that computer (Email me if you want to know how to change primary and secondary devices).
Then turn that computer on. It MIGHT show up as another storage device under My Computer. Now, this will happen only if there was an OS problem and not a bad boot sectors on the hard drive.
Give this a shot!!! If this doesn't work, I'm almost convinced that the hard drive has many Corrupt Sectors and the only way would be to try and repair it (by using tools like Disk Doctors etc). I have had few bad experiences with MAXTOR harddrives and looks like you have one of those.
Let me know.

Peace

A picture is worth a thousand words

झन अघि नै भनेको के फोटो खिचेर टाँस, फोटो टाँस भनेर ।

so, to ensure whether the DVD drive is working or not, त्यत्ति CD drive को मात्रै भए पनि फोटो टाँस न त, कि कसो राते ? बत्ति बलेको छ कि छैन अनि अरु पनि के के हेरेर रातेले थाहा पाई हाल्छन ;)

Keep rolling...

yes when i restart the computer with the CD in the cd drive, it does make sound and blinks and it kind of tries to show something, im not sure lime a whole black screen with a "-" on the top and nothing happens though, it gets back into the safe mode options again.
