Sudan makes an Exit!
Sudan Gurung has resigned from his position as our Home Minister. It is indeed a sad day for Nepal. The old school media are happy today. They feel that they have won the war and sooner or later, the Balen government will make amends with them. But they are in for a surprise.
The same old school media will also face scrutiny over their evasion of taxes, exploitation of staff and extortion rackets carried out against the dalals, netas and hakims as well. It is just a matter of time and expect the Sirohiyas and the old media sahujis to face the music one way or another anytime soon.
The Sirohiyas think they have done a great job by disclosing all the bank account information of Sudan Gurung, including how much he deposited into his account, how he misused his NGO's funds, and the shady acts he engaged in when purchasing shares of various companies. But did he really misuse the funds? Is it a crime to take a loan from someone? Did Sudan misuse this authority to take bribes from police officers or extort Rs 50 lakhs per day from the Immigration Department at TIA? Nope!
I think most of the old school jholeys and the media wallahs feel that they have accomplished something today but it is a good thing that Sudan Gurung has resigned and let's see if our media wallahs will also disclose all bank information of Oli's cronies, Prachanda's daughter and Deuba's son as well and all the financial information as well. Just give us the names of the 5 karod vehicles Oli and Deuba and Prachanda have in their garage. Who is funding the rent for Prachanda and Oli?
And how on Earth do you get hold of the bank account numbers? The Kanitpur people tell us that they did not disclose all the bank account information, only the beginning numbers and the end to protect the privacy of Sudan Gurung. My question for them is how did you access so much banking information in a matter of days? Did you guys have access to the servers or was it the Bank Sahujis who all have some kind of financial crimes hidden in their closet, wanting a pushback with the help of the media wallahs.
Sudan Gurung was never the first choice to be a minister, let alone the Home Minister. In the balance game, Rabi and Balen could not agree on whose candidate would head the Home Ministry and Balen thought for a few seconds and talked Rabi into accepting Sudan as the Home Minister.
Old school jholeys and the media wallahs may be celebrating today but it has definitely opened a Pandora's box and Deepak Bhatta's connection with Sudan Gurung was mostly as a donor to the latter's NGO and then somehow investments in insurance companies where Bhatta had also invested made it look like he was a partner in Bhatta's shady dealings. And our media wallahs had a field day making it look like Sudan Gurung is the culprit!
Even the Sirohiyas have some stake in the same insurance companies. Many other media sahujis received shares of these companies from Bhatta as well. And many media wallahs were also pissed that the Balen government had stopped the Rs 300 crore freebies in the name of government advertisement to the private media wallahs.
The Jholeys are talking about the RSP government losing two wickets in less than a month. This is not a cricket match. I think Sudan Gurung just moved too fast for our chors but for the majority of us, he will be remembered as a courageous man who dared to arrest Oli and Lekhak and others even if it was for a few days or weeks.
The Balen government has a five-year mandate to govern our country. The haters may think or would love to see Rabi and Balen break up their pact and maybe another mili-juli sarkar with the same old corrupt political parties. I don't think this will happen anytime soon.
Yes, there will be differences between these two but they need each other and they need to work it out with each other to make this country better instead of being bogged down by personal ego and petty issues.
We know the newbies are not in it to accumulate ill-got wealth and misuse their authority. RSP has set a good example today. Sudan has won the admiration of the majority of the folks in this country for his work as our Home Minister. We wish him well, and may he do more for his folks in Gorkha and maybe when time is right, come back and lead Home again or another Ministry.
