Hello All,
I have applied for OPT 6 months back and It hasn't been approved yet. When I check the status online it shows "Initial Review'. While I was a student, I worked in "One of the reputed Fortune 500" company for 8 months on CPT.
I was planning to file H1 this year but my OPT hasn't approved yet.
Have you guys been in this type of situation before ? What would be my solution ?
Thank you in Advance !!
Genuine suggestions Please !!

In most of the situation, you can't do anything but wait and watch for your EAD to arrive. However, I think I read somewhere that if the EAD does not arrive for certain days, then you can contact your school's international office about what's going on. International office can, then, talk with whoever they can. 6 months is way too long just to wait and watch.

Did u work full time or part time on CPT? If you worked full time, then your OPT will be denied.

i dont think it has to do anything of your working on CPT, neither your company being fortune 50000 ...oh 500 ho kya re..!!
and..call them, there are some really nice mexicans answering phones at USCIS..and they are helpful people, usually they ll tell you "k hudai cha " bhanera and,,those balls on the status check web page dont mean anything, they are updated once everymonth or in lesser frequency than that.

Hello All,
Thank you very much for these suggestions.
@bbmb: I contacted my International Advisor in School and she says that school can't do anything in this matter.
@last kiss: I worked Full time in CPT. I know couple of my frens in School and they work full time too but their OPT got approved.
@derrick: I called in USCIS customer Service and they say that "Your case in pending for Background check and we can't do anything".
@pokhara ko keto: my CPT just ended and OPT not approved so employer can't file the H1B for me.
don't know what to do !!
Thanks,

I had worked for a few months during a summer on CPT, full time, while in college. Got my OPT approved in less than 2 months after application. Same thing with OPT extension recently. But all works I've done were/are related to my major. 6 months is quite a lot, doesn't sound right. Good luck!

Its been a while since I work in CPT/OPT. If rules and regulations have not been changed since then, what I know is, you can work full time for 364 days ( less than 365 days) and still eligible for OPT. However, if you work 365 days or more in CPT, your OPT will be denied. Based on this, you are eligible for full OPT. There might be something else going on. Good luck.
