I am not a CIS major, but a grad student of communication and going to
graduate in Dec 08. In my univ. there is a graduate certificate course
in CIS (if I successfully complete 4 graduate level courses on CIS,
they provide me with a Graduate Certificate). And to be frank, I don't
have any background on CIS or computer science, except that I have done
1 multimedia course and 1 computer information system introductory
level grad course . That's my background and I want to work either in a project management atmosphere or a
software testing field, I guess. Yes it is about me and my plan. I am just a
novice intending to bring a change in my ongoing field of study and
career. I have the following courses which I can register right now for
this summer and Fall:
CIS 8030 -
Software Requirements Management
CIS
8090 - Enterprise Architecture
CIS 8000 - Information
Technology Project Management
CIS 8300 - Software
Quality Management (formerly software testing)
CIS 8310 - Systems
Development
CIS 8060 - Supply Chain
Management
CIS 8100 - Management of
Information Services
what kind of courses do you suggest me to take?
Your suggestion would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sarkozy

Hey I was a CIS major for my undergrad and Computer Tech. major for my Graduate... So, the classes I took were pretty much like you have stated here, but with addition to several programming languages... The ones you have posted here are more about Management in Technology kinda courses and is not Programming types..and with my experiences these stupid technical management courses are nothing different than regular management courses..it might be different at your school...Anyways, I think taking following will be helpful in understanding 'technology" but pretty much "No help" in getting jobs...unless your "software testing" course really deals with real life "software testing" (ask former students 'coz software testing experience is a real help in getting jobs) and not about the management:
CIS
8090 - Enterprise Architecture
CIS 8000 - Information
Technology Project Management
CIS 8300 - Software
Quality Management (formerly software testing)
CIS 8310 - Systems
Development
