I am not really sure. what set up it would be good for nepal ,republican or ceremonial monarcy. If i had choice ,i would go for ceremonial monarchy than republician. As we have seen in past our nepalese people have not understood the idea of democracy then again to give them a Big republican set up would be too much of a chance and change.Ii fear people won't be able to handle .
I think to maintain the slow transistion and considering the past history of Nepal .It would be beneficial for nepal and nepalese to leave the state as ceremonial monarchy as in Netherland or belgium.
Also we cannot deny the fact that it was this shah dynasty that united nepal together.Good or bad way we are Nepal as whole because of shahs anchestors.King is not as cruel or dictator as seen in history of the world.may be he didn't care too much but leaving him throne that his anchestor gave him won't be too bad.
We need head of state and the techinicality of these kind of issue can create more confusion and chaos.
I think it is essential to educate people in more demoractic get up than to fight just removing king.King has become agenda where as my point of view peace and progress of nation should be agenda.Removing king is not as is as it seems.

I am really not sure either. It seems like so difficult to trust anyone. King got a chance and mismanaged big time. People had a lot of aspiration for King to bring peace in country. But he failed to build any momentum.

Political Parties ruled for the last 12 years. All they did was made a country 100 times worst than Panche Era. We all know they fight among themselves. I hope they can manage things well without selling us to India. But I have to doubt of their past behavior.

Mao---I hope they can come clean, denouce violance and join mainstream politics for the sake of nation. But doubt how long it will last. There is already talk and threats for their demand.

I hope we will find a good leader who can bridge the gap and bring prosperity.

Republic. Pure and simple.

Why keep the parasites?

It's like paying a bully to hang around. You're always scared that he might beat you up. And there are some among you who actually believe that the bully somehow benefits your neighborhood by keeping other bullies out. Plus they are used to having a bully, so they cannot imagine a neighborhood with him. Though it is tough living with the bully, they think the unknown factor of not having around is scarier to them. So, they favor status quo.

But the fact is, if you rise against the bully and drive him out, how you manage your neighborhood falls in your hand. You become responsible for your own future. Sure, there will be some chaos in the beginning, but eventually you will manage. Future is in your hand.

memyself... tells "Nepal takes birth under king..."....what is this...? Human being takes birth in the form of apes...it lived in jungles many many years ago...but there is drastic change now...they have changed from animals to most brainy humans...change is natural and we should always move forward...

So what nepal was born under king...Nepal does not need any more king now...Nepal cannot tolerate smuggler king or killer crown...its too much...Nepal cannot take the burder of rajsanstha at all...it has to move forward with full democratic environment...

I go for republic...OK...if due to circumstances and conditions...I can even go for ceremonial kingship...but not more than that...no active rule of king...its over now...

nepalmaasantihosSPAM,

I told you. Don't ask me questions here. Everything has been answered time and again. If you want questions and answers go to blogdai, maila_baje, hardtalk, ohnepal. They will handle you better.

For me, my land, my country, my culture, my history are more important than my future, a corrupt country, a land ruled by terrorists. Simple and period. I don't care what a bunch of you living in United states of Hispanics think. You are no one to us in Nepal. NO ONE.

While it is important to keep our culture, history and heritage it is equally important to move with time.
Now time demands king to move along with people.King cannot rule nepal as in Panchayat. No one man can rule .It is team
effort
while it is highly likely that there will be dicussion and disagreement on how todo things ,the out come of such
dicussion would be better than one man deciding.

Memyselfnnepal , were u born in 1989 ,u forget the history beyond that.i know what basis am i talking. But you are too
stubborn to admit that what king did was incorrect.
i can understand the dissatifcation felt by you and all others due to these corrupt SPAM leaders but there is no alternative
to democracy.it is just not rhetrotic .I believe in it.

Keeping in mind the contribution of shah kings to the history of Nepal ,my stance is ceremonial monarchy
.Also the chaos that might come after the republician setup .Otherwise i would have advocated for full republic.Active monarchy
is way out of question that too after such a big blunder by king.If he would have just worked actively keeping some
good leaders of SPA then this day would not have came for him that his throne is in stake now and Maoist would not
have been so powerful.

if you say SPAM got 200k people by force and money why didn't king put atleast 50 k in the steet in support of him??

Well, I think the people will decide about it. If we go through an unbiased and violence-free CA, then people are their to choose between ceremonial monarchy and republic. That is probably the most democratic way of dealing with the issue.

On personal front, I don't see any necessity, relevance or validity of ceremonial monarchy in Nepal anymore. Monarchy had been worshipped as demi god/goddess in the past. With royal family massacre, followed by the illecit/dictatorial takeover by Mr. Shah, and the consequent failure of living up with the expectations of general people, I guess monarchy of Nepal has lost people's attention big time, let alone the respect which the institution had been blessed with in the past. Moreover with the likes of Paras Shah lined up as a successor, I believe nepalese have nothing but a spit of venom for the monarchy. Amidst this hatred, does the monarchy stand a chance, or should be given any?

Multiparty democracy can/will flourish better if the all the parties including maoists are committed for a fair, competitive and demcratic practice. With the complete removal of monarchy, there wll be an inevitable "political void" in the country and it will all depend upon the honest motive of the parties and the maoists to decide how to fill the space. If they succeed in sticking with the norms of multiparty democracy, I don't see any reason why we have to remain under the betraying crown, albeit with the cermonial tag on it.

That said, I have my finger crossed for the upcoming CA.

Republician set up is not as is as said.We had so many years and still people could not understand the meaning of democracy. So to throw them republic would be big mistake at this point of time.
And with the unclear intentions of SPAM.it is very hard to tell what direction the country would go.
Though king is incompetent and wants just to sit in his throne ,Nepalese should not bother too much about him and his son. because to invite unnessary headache would not be another good move by people.

IMI,

I respect your opinion, but tell me one good example/case, where you feel that monarchy could help to chip in with some concrete solution in today's context.

Memyself...,

I am glad you registered me to the SPA group...I am not the bloodsucking Royalist and I am neither the bloodtaking maoist.

The thing is I don't want Nepal to be ruled by King. That is very clear. If maoist come to the main stream politics, future of Nepal will be very good. So government should do its best to bring them into main stream and moists should also be flexible. King out of our country, maoists in the main stream politics and sincere work is the need of Nepal today.

To tell you the truth i really don't have any good example.
but i just don't like inviting another headache and techinicallity issues where these SPAM dogs will fight with each other for another century.
Removing king is not the solution .Solution is that SPAM agree that they are united and they are dedicated to democracy.
But in present context ,maoist wants to come to power anyhow that is why they are exploiting this issue ever since. If they can remove king .Then they are not too far away from Nepal's new thone.
King can chip in just to stop them from their ill intentions.imposing communist idealogy on free people.BUt how concrete that solution would be i cannot really say but can you say without king nepal is going (for true ) is going have concrete solution???

Your arguments have some point but it all boils down to like keeping the cat (who steals milk from the kitchen every now and then) to get rid of the irritating mice. Why not stop relying on the betraying cat and start dealing with the ambiguously intended mice, face to face, for a change?

On a serious note, I feel that monarchy has been the biggest representation of the social disparity that we have in out country. It all starts and/or ends there right in the palace. We, have been so innately used to stooping in front of the so called "thula thaala" of the society that we disagree to exist without them.

Let's have a belief in ourselves and let's stop depeding on the instiution run by a single person. If we, 26 million heads, can act together then we don't need to rely on the likes of G. Shah to come and act as a savior in time of crisis.

I don't blame you, our social structure and upbrining is such that we deny to exist independently. Let's break the shackle now and be INDEPENDENT.

hey if you can lace the cat then whats the problem?

then again you are right we nepalese are victim of that kind of mentality.
Mentality that we cannot do anything ourself. Then there was another issue why take foreign aids to develop our nation which i was putting forward in sajah..For one time can't we try it on our own.

See these things are very big talk and ideal but we need to think in present context .looking at the situation of the country and eduational level of neta and janta.

We cannot ignore that the country might be very well go to worse from bad. When there is such a big change.Yes you are right the change can be good too.but look at our people (neta n janta)can you trust them completely .you know the nature of mice as well as the big cat.

It would be good to be independent but can we be independent in every aspect?

would our netas be happy if nepalese are independent?Maoist leaders would be the first one to cry.

It's all in our minds. The dilemma that we are showing is just an outcome of a wary brain, one that was denied to think independently due to the result of 250 years old continuous suppression (guardainship, if you may want to call).

How can one know how does it feel to be independent, until he/she actually is. Nepalese are illeterate I agree, but not politically dumb by any means. In fact, they are far more smarter than americans when it comes to political awareness. All they need is a practical environment of a just society. Let's give them the chance now. They deserve it.

I gotta go.
