Issues like gay marriage, abortion rights are the kinds of topics, I can go on and on with. I just wanted to know how the Nepalese, majority of whom still believes that its something only seen in the summer flicks like 'Brokeback Mountain,' feel.

changed??? male sex workers who provide serivce to gay men have always existed in nepal, esp. in kathmandu ...so it is not like the sexual preferences of men/women are changing..they are being more open, coming out into the community, rallying etc. that is the change i guess.

well, besides prosititution if somebody is homosexual ,i think it is thier preference.Homosexuality is something that is even seen in animals-dogs,penguins etc.

I don't know ,what is my stance on this cause at one side i believe it is against the natural and society norms but other side it is right too choose.

i dont' think homosexuality is perference. is it like waking up in the morning saying 'hey, i think i am getting bored with girs. today i wil have a little taste of men'!! u cannot really have an influence on your sexual preference. u just find yourself attracted to some gender. if homosexuality was really a perference why would so many people choose or "prefer" to go against soceity's norms knowing that htey might create enemies, face ostrasization from family and soceity and be ridiculted by them ??? they really cannot help it. just like a boy finds a girl attractive, (it is only natural for him) one homosexual finds another attractive. if it was really a perference thing, then why cannot a straight guy change his sexual perference to a guy every once in while??? it is just waht a man is born with, even if he wants to become homosexual/straight, he cannot realy help iit.

Just plain ol' politics to energize his evangelical base. They don't make amendments to block something. They make amendments to protect one's rights.

Exactly in the sense that people donot enjoy being homosexual. It is not about enjoyment it is the medically proven that some people have tendency towards same sex and they cannot help it.Yes, i admit there are here and there cases of people trying to experiment but overall the homosexual cannot help them.How can someone have sex with opposite sex and enjoy if someone has no desire to do so?that is why this becomes preference.U either prefer same sex or opposite sex.

I do not understand why people use the word 'gay' as if its some kind of disease. This word is often used with a negative connotation. A supposedly "happily" married Nepali woman with a 10 year old kid apparently have no feelings for her man, in fact for any man. She can't help how she feels and yet she has to be with this man for the rest of her life because no one will understand or choose not to understand her what so ever, if she ever decided to come out of her closet. Is this what Bush refers to as "strengthing families," living a lie? I believe that same sex marriage does not mean to "undermine families." I think the whole idea of marriage is union, not necessarily only among the opposite sex.

A lot of people fear that by allowing same sex marriage, one goes against the natural law. Who are we to talk about the natural law? Natural law, to wipe my arsh with. If you talk about the law, this could very well be nature's way to control population. I do not understand why are people having a hard time understanding that this is 'natural.' Besides, just because gay marriage is allowed, doesn't mean everybody around will go gay.

mahila nani, I care so much :-) but just for your curiosity, the media says that the Cheney juniors are. I think their popularity would've made them the president instead of Bush, if they'd ran for it.
