Kantipur news. Doctor pays robbers Rs 30m for son's release PR KATHMANDU, May 31 - In what happens to be the biggest sum looted from an individual in living memory, armed robbers took Rs 30 million from reputed urologist Dr Jagadish Lal Vaidhya, co-owner of B & B Hospital, some weeks ago. According to an unimpeachable source, heavily armed robbers broke into Dr Vaidhya's palatial residence at Sunakothi, Lalitpur at 11 p.m., killed his five pet dogs, overpowered five guards, and demanded Rs 30 million from the doctor. Dr Vaidhya asked for a day to collect the amount, after which the robbers took his son Saroj Vaidhya hostage. The robbers released Saroj the next evening after the doctor gave them the sum demanded. To put together the amount, Dr Vaidhya sold some of his shares in B & B Hospital, the source said. When the Post asked Dr Vaidhya about the incident, he said, "It's an old incident. I don't want to talk about it." The doctor did not report the incident to the police. Lalitpur district police superintendent Madhav Joshi said that while many people have asked him about the incident, the Vaidhya family has not filed any complaint at his office

The doctor's son had gone to Nepal to get married. The looters took all the jewelry they had bought for the marriage. They took the son who had come to get married and demanded more money. Not sure if the marriage actually took place or not.

Nails he is obviously traumatized by that incident and doesn't want to talk about it. Maybe the looters threatened they were gonna come back and kill them if they reported it to the police.

Hey Saroj, don't be a dumbass by saying my question is stupid. The minimal presence or total absence and the incompetence of Nepali police has been made quite blatant by the recent spate of lootings. So what are they doing to protect and serve the citizens. So, again, my question: Where the heck is police when all these lootings are occuring? It is a timely and relevant question. Saroj, again, let me remind you politely, don't be a DUMBASS!
