Woman commits suicide unable to bear poverty
A woman of Kotbhairav, Bajhang committed suicide Wednesday as she was unable to cope up with her abject poverty, Annapurna Post daily reported.
Bimala Badi, who had come to district headquarter Chainpur three days ago in search of work jumped into Seti River Wednesday morning after going hungry for entire day Tuesday. Police recovered her body from the river.
“She had slept empty stomach Tuesday night too,” said Keuridevi Badi of Chainpur. “She suddenly jumped into the river unable to bear the brunt of poverty.”
Keuridevi said, Bimala used to say she needs to go home with food as her children had remained hungry for many days.
Bimala was staying in a hut in Thalarakhola, Kotbhairav with three children. She had come to Chainpur with a nine month old son leaving behind two children at the aegis of a neighbor. nepalenws.com
