mail from advisor looks like this: I regret to inform you that your I-20 has been terminated on the Department of Homeland Security’s Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Your I-20 was terminated because you dropped one course and have only 11 credits. In addition to notifying the Department of Homeland Security, we are also required to State goverment that you are not maintaining your F-1 status. I would strongly encourage you to take steps to recover your F-1 status. You may seek advice from one of our international student advisors or from an immigration attorney. Thank you.

I don't have any personal experience in this matter. But I do know a friend who was in the exact same position. She was able to take care of it and she is still here without any problems. So, please don't worry about it too much. I am sure someone on sajha will be able to give you advice. I will try contacting my friend to ask how exactly she was able to solve this problem. I will post on sajha if she gets back to me. Hang in there. There always are ways to deal with these things. May be you could clarify exactly what happened so that people can give you the best advice. Did you drop one class and were left with only 11 credits? You said," १२ credit नै क्लास register गरेको थे तर क्लास miss भएर..." but if you miss class wouldn't you get an F rather than the class being dropped from your registration? Also,do you think you could prove that “circumstances beyond your control” resulted in this situation? ( I believe that is the standard for reinstatement)

Thanks sabkosathi for immediate responce. But I am scared that I have been working for month using sasu. Will they try to dipp in to my working history off campus? I could not attend the class for 4-5 days and the professor drop me from class. I was living far from the city and had no car so I have to miss those classes in the begining of semester to be honest. Do they try to find if I am working off campus? Thank u

You need to apply for reinstatement next semester. You need to pay like $300 fee and some paper work. They are not gonna look for your work history. In one of the paperwork you only need to mark you havent worked off campus, thats all they need. I went thru these steps myself 3 yrs ago. Dont worry you will be fine.

Bro, try contacting your adviser as soon as possible and explain him the situation. Most of my college advisers have been helpful and very accommodating. I just realized that my status was terminated as well, I found that out when I filed for post graduate OPT. In my case, ex-adviser screwed up my information in SEVIS and then left the school to work for some other school. I had my status terminated for about more than 1 year and I was never made aware of this. Finally, current adviser has send letters to the SEVIS requesting my status be turned back to active. What saved me was I had never failed a class or had dropped it and was registered for every semester. I suggest you talk to your adviser or college dean and explain your situation. Using ssn had nothing to do with your current situation. They don't care about it, unless you get caught or have been caught by the USCIS officers.

I advise you that go to talk with your international adviser soon. They do help you , may be you need to go INS office once but you will be fine. Using sasu had nothing to do with your current situation and you won't get any problem in future too. Best of Luck
