Lots of opportunities in Dallas for Neps. Very nice people in Nepalese community. Go to http://nepalesesociety.org for Nepalese Society of Texas Web site and seek some help if needed. Good luck! NepTex

I lived there for 9 years and moved out to Denver.....no...no...that doesn't mean that Dallas is bad.....I love that place as somebody would love his/her first love......I still miss Dallas....Came as student....got green card...got citizenship....got married...got baby...arrrrrrgh...not baby...... There is not whole lot to do (like Sunkoshi stated above) but it's nice place to live. I read in the some other thread that people in Dallas pull leg and they will never lift you up.....that isn't true....I never ran into anybody in my nine years in there who was like that....I made lots of friends who were willing to go to any length to help...... Everybody has their own experiences.....I like Dallas just the fact that my hair started turning gray in there as I spent so much time in Dallas..... Probably I didn't give you facts about Dallas but....like I said...everybody has their own way of looking at it.... I like Dallas, Dallas Cowboys....Dallas Mavericks....not a fan of Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers though........ Probably I will head back there for retirement after I have enough money (....ufff...long time to come....)

Dallas is a pretty good place to live. Low housing cost, great night life, geat restaurants, big companies, big airport, great shopping areas, cowboys, rangers, universities, community colleges and lots of young Nepalis. A very helpful Nepali community. But Of course, it's not California in terms of natural beauty or in terms of living cost. Great city for affordability (in a big city - yes I think it's one of the top 10 big cities in the US). PS- If you had a choice between Dallas and Austin, Austin is much much better though.

I would not say Dallas is the best place to live in USA...but it's a decent place. Good community. Decent schools in the metroplex. Downtown Fort Worth is good . I lived there for long time. No snow ..that was the best part for me ...also if u r football fan...it's a football city.....watching cowboyz game is a ritual......longhorns are just 2 hour drive away...now the mavericks are catching the people's imagination.....If u like hockey ...u'll love Mike Modano..he's awesome......Above all it's an inexpensive city. Never in the USA u'll find a decent place to live so inexpensive as in DFW Metroplex. Love Dallas

couldnt agree more with earlier threads---this is probably the one of the better places to live in terms of convenience.....NY is a great city(wouldnt trade it at the moment), but it is not the most convenient in the world. Housing/transportation is cheap in big D, and there are plenty of jobs available. a good strategy would be living/working in dallas, but taking off once a month/2months to any other part of the US for 'something to do'--the money you save living there will make this possible. I have a cousin who shows up here in NY every couple of months (on 3 day weekends), and alternates this between trips to Denver and San Fran---now that is pretty sweet! And if you are a football fan,you will be in football heaven , because this sport is the lifeblood of this town.
