Sapana Shree lately has been packing the Himalayan Yak Restaurant in Queens with her melodic voice that is second to none. Shows hosted by Gagan Birahi is accompanied by Bimal Budathoki on keyboard, Nuche Dhangol on Madals/Dholak/Dukhi Tabala, Shisir Shrestha on Guitar and Nar Bahadur Dahal with Vocal and chimes (don’t know if that’s what it’s called).

Before the word gets out and Indian community starts flocking the scene, I thought I’d make you all aware of her shows and enjoy while it lasts. So, if you are from New York or just visiting New York, don’t forget to stop by Himalayan Yak Restaurant and listen to Sapana sing live. Who knows, it could be the highlight of your visit to NY.

On Friday, July 28th night, I happen to meet a cousin from DC area, another cousin from Bombay and old friends from upstate New York and Boston. They all agreed the night was worthwhile and they were so glad they came there. That has been the kind of weekend nights at Himalayan Yak.

Call for show times and enjoy this video I made from pics and videos I took with my Cannon SD450. Both my memory card of 512 and 128 megs filled up in no time and, obviously, songs are incomplete. But again, for uninterrupted shows, you’ve got to visit the place.

I recently visited NY and I was also there in Yak Resturant on 26 Jul. I had fun. She sang pretty cool songs. It was awesome

There was another Nepali guy with very nice vocal. Some thing Sharma. Can you post his video as well? He also deserves some kudos.

Purbali, they seem to have some one or other filling in during their show or while Sapana takes a break. Since I have been there only twice, I don't remember seeing 'some thing Sharma'. I hope somebody else could satisfy your request.

And hey, very nicely put with the 'song and Momo combo deal'. It is indeed a deal or a big deal to be able to witness such spectacle in New York City.
