Leaders promised many things before and after restoration of parliament. But now it looks like their honeymoon period is over and they are coming out of shell fighting for kursi.

Still they have not been able to decide cabinet.... looks like crack is emergin in SPA alliance

I hope SPA's alliance is not like Eminem's marriage, marriage-divorce-remarriage then divorce again in 2 months.

Portfolio claims delay cabinet formation

NC claims key ministries; partners say no-no

Kathmandu, May 1:

The meeting of the seven-party alliance’s top leaders, held today at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala’s residence, ended inconclusively due to “sharp differences” over allocation of ministerial portfolios.
The meeting, however, agreed in principle to limit the strength of the cabinet to 21. It has been almost a week since the alliance unanimously picked Koirala prime minister.
Alliance sources said differences cropped up after the Nepali Congress said it would like to keep the portfolios of deputy prime minister and Home Affairs and other important portfolios.
The UML had claimed the portfolios of deputy prime minister and Home. The major alliance partners did not agree to the NC’s claim.
“If our presence is necessary, portfolios must be distributed to us according to our strength in parliament, popularity and our contribution to the movement,” said a UML central committee member.
He added: “We have told them (NC) to form their own government if they refuse to give us the Dy PM and Home portfolios.”
Shortly after the meeting, the UML standing committee met. Standing committee member Amrit Kumar Bohara said the “Parliament was reinstated on the strength of the people’s movement and the government should also be formed according to its spirit.” He said his party had already asked the PM not to delay forming a cabinet even if it be a small one .
Bohara said: “Every political party has to have a respectable position in the government.” He added they also had differences with the NC on some policy issues.
He said they had told the PM that they would not go to the Palace to take the oath of office and that all the alliance partners must be committed to the spirit of the movement, the alliance’s roadmap and the 12-point understanding with the Maoists.
NC general secretary Ram Chandra Poudel, however, contested Bohara’s claims. He said there were no differences of opinion on the formation of the cabinet. “The cabinet could not be announced today as other partners did not give their lists. Maybe, they have internal problems and are blaming us ,” he said.
He said that the UML, NWPP, Janamorcha Nepal and NSP did not send their lists to the PM and NC-D sent only one name — of Gopal Man Shrestha. Asked about the
NC claiming the Dy PM and Home portfolios, Poudel said that it was not his party but Narayan Man Bijuckchhe who made that suggestion. He said except for the UML, other partners had backed the idea. He said the NC had not demanded any portfolios.
Poudel denied he was interested in holding the Dy-PM-cum Home minister post. He, however, conceded that friends in NC had urged him to join the government as the “PM’s second man”.
Bijuckchhe said he suggested that the PM appoint his deputy who may be able to work as per the PM’s “wave length” and it was also needed, given his “poor health.” Bijuckchhe said he may not join the government.

HoR to meet today
KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) will re-convene at 2:00 pm on Tuesday. The parliament is expected to come up with a new procedural code since it was not introduced as desired by Deputy Speaker Chitralekha Yadav in the very first meeting of the reinstated HoR. Such a procedural code will guide the parliamentary proceedings in future. — HNS

Hey SweetHeart (BathroomCoffee),

I think this situation is still far better than being under autocratic king's rulle where you can not protest even when you are getting killed.

We are just being cautious and letting leaders know that we are still watching their act, so not to repeat the mistake.

That was that for politics let us go back to our life.

Why are you coming in public and making fun of your own buda. Come on sweet heart I know we do not agree in political choices.. .but we agree in every thing else ;-) . So you should not come out and call names. Anyway dear as always I forgive you.

See you at home soon.

True colour comming out, I won't be surprised if they spill the opportunity and screw up the achievements that came solely due to people's power.

We need some leaders from Civil Society in this Cabinet to check the performance and behavior of SPA Leaders. They will again engage in corruption and power struggle if we do not check them tightly.

Thus I propose Gagan Thapa and Krishna Phadi Ji should also be in this cabinet representing Nepalese people and Civil Society.

Students protest against SPA leaders

KATHMANDU

KATHMANDU, May 2 - Students of central campus of Tribhuvan University took out a stick rally from Kirtipur protesting against the signs of the “re-emmergence of the old practice” by the political leaders.
The protesters said that their rally is aimed at questioning leaders who’s hanging over position in the cabinet against the statements of the public movement.

The students were in the angry mood with the assurance of circling the Prime Minister’s office.

Likewise, thousands of students in Chitwan took out a protest rally against the “behaviour” of the political leaders’ quarrel for holding their desired post in the cabinet.

Students chanted the slogans like “Stop jolting for power, don’t delay the constituent assembly, and stop favouring palace”. The protestors also ordered the businessmen to shut down their shops.

Students of Sapta Gandaki Campus and Balkumari Campus participated in the protest programme.

All the campuses in Chitwan were closed down.

Meanwhile, student leaders today warned the leaders of the seven-party alliance of stringent action if they failed to honour the sentiments of people’s movement while undertaking their responsibilities.

Speaking at a programme organized by Reporters’ Club in Kathmandu, the leaders stressed that if the SPA are to commit an error again then it would signal an unfortunate disaster.

Lekhnath Neupane, president of Maoist aligned All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), said that the nation should move ahead on the basis of political decisions. He also said that the Maoists would not hinder the peace processes.

Student leader Gagan Thapa said that action against the SPA leaders should be taken if they move against the spirit of the people’s mass movement.

Hopefully, SPA leaders will fear the rage of students and carry on with People's wish rather than power hurdles. So far, SPA has not been able to do the following, which surprises me (ARE THEY SLEEPING?):
- Declare Press Freedom immediately; remove all the laws and ban put in place by mofo King
- Arrest all those involved in killing the protestors (SR Rana, Kamale etc)
- They need to change the heads of Army and Police. Dismiss current IGP and Army Chief cuz they will always be loyal to the King
- Declare Cease Fire and bring Maoists to the main stream. Now that most of Maoists demands are close to being met, if they still don't lay down their arms then SERIOUSLY F**K them as they don't want peace in Nepal
- Jump start government projects that essentially effects Nepalese like electricity projects, drinking water, education etc.
- Importantly, why the hell was Parase not charged when he hit the wedding vehicle. That proves that nothing has been changed and we still have to fear these f**king royals.

IF THEY WANT TO PROVE THAT PEOPLE HAVE WON, THEY NEED TO START WORKING ON THESE ASAP.
