who is the driver n what about the insurance policy. I think it is very important to have an accidental attorney to represent 3 nepalese ppls. we cannot bring them back but atleast try to help the families with some compensation. Can anyone update with this issue?

From very little I know about the law in the US, if the victims had paid the driver any money for the ride, then the driver will be liable for injuries and loss. If the ride was "probono" then I dont think theres much that can done in terms of financial compensation. Again, things might be different in MN.

If the driver has Comprehensive Coverage, everybody in the vehicle including the driver and the vehicle is covered. If the driver has Liability only, only the passengers will be covered, neither driver nor vehicle is covered. Generally, Comprehensive coverage states the amount per injury per person (max 300,000). But driver might have opted for lower coverage.

I think AT is right. But it isstill better to have an attorney who can sort the things out.
I was in similar experience n got a good lawyer.

Even if it is only liability coverage ,the minimum compensation for death is $ 30,000 ,$ 15,000 for injuries and $ 5,000 for the damage of the vehicle.
But everything depends on who is at fault.If the driver of the dead nepalis is at fault then insurance company won't pay anything to the victims.

if these ppl are not a driver then they will get every penny. all the pessenger should get the compensation n i think should go to attorney....

I hope I am wrong but I think the auto insurance money will be distributed only to cover the medical expenses and damaged property. However, if the driver who hit them (82-year old man) is found to be at fault, then he (and thus his insurance company) can be sued to claim compensation.
Attorny's advice is definitely needed.

Lost of life should be covcer by every auto insurance regardless of fault.
