how many of u nepali out there eat beef

Restaurant owners in Pokhara and other posh tourist areas, openly put steak and other beef entrees to attract tourist to make a dime. That is perfectly ok, when it is benefiting you, monetarily. But then we have to put this "Sati Savitri" mask on and start a thread over this double standard issue. Its just food, big F@#ken deal mate. So you ate beef, made yourself happy...talk about something more relevant.Yeah culture and heritage, these cliches are thrown around to satisfy people's underlying hypocrisy and self serving biases.

You can decide to believe or not to believe on anything be it social, cultural, religious, political so is what you eat. You can do what ever you want, you can eat what ever you like I do not care. For those of you who do not understand the meaning of culture and what is right and wrong I have a suggestion for you. This theory was applied by Gandhiji, I am not a Gandhi fan but I like this idea.

There was a time when Gandhi could not decide what was right and what was wrong. Then he decided that what ever he could do and did not have to hide from his mother was a right thing to do. When in doubt about a right or a wrong action he would ask his mother.

Along the same line for all of you who do not want to know or know what is culture or what is right or wrong just ask your parents and grand parents. If it is ok with them you are not wrong. This theory goes to eating beef. Go and ask your parents and grand parents if they are still alive and if it is ok with them you can do what ever, even eat beef.

No its not just that. Having said that we do have values placed on us from centuries that benefit some people. Like the Malla rulers of Patan are lower class today (this was forced.)

Culture is a complex subject which defines our identity. Krishnamurti once said "..Culture is like mud on flower pot in which a beautiful flower grows". We are defined by our culture, defying these values is defying our existence which will hurt ourselves and future generation.

What's wrong with Sayami jee? Did original question asked someone to "educate" other with a "new" culture? How did you understand the purpose of this thread, but I found nowhere any message like "theread only for beef eater". Anyway, I found the thread interesting, and I don't think anybody can dictate me for not visiting the thread. Remember that I am not opposing you or your views or any others', I truly respect them who eat beef and I am not asking them to stop doing that.

The first time I ate Beef was in Pokhara. Second time in Thamel. Third time in NY, 34st Street Burger King (Macy's Corner). I don't remember after that. I eat everyday from my break fast to dinner. I personally prefer goat in Nepal but once I had bad experience in South America.

My grandparents have no problem for me drinking beer BUT I don't. I do drink beer once in a blue moon.

Despite what our belief and culture, my theory over not eating cow, horse, buffalo is, they are disgustingly big animals to eat, and when they are young, I love them. So either way, my heart doesn't go for their meat.
Seafood and vegetables are what I prefer the most.

Hey Sayami, what do you say to those who NEVER eat beef or drink beer? you should dare to address thedr issues, should recognize this fact. instead, you are repeatedely saying that EVERYONE here in Sajha is lying who says he/she does not eat beef or beer.
