Generally speaking, I am not a big fan of beef, but when it comes to a 16 oz slab of well-done rib eye steak, it is a completely different story:)

so it is cool to eat beef. This thread shows how little Nepalese respect themselves and it is no wonder that nobody else respects Nepal or the Nepalis either. We are the poorest in the world and our culture and country is soon to be wiped out.

There was a crisis all across Europe and the Islamic nations when a Danish newspaper drew a cartoon of Muhammad. Compare that with one of the cartoons in this thread which has parts of a cow labeled for eating...and that also on the picture of the cow with the drawings of hindu gods and goddesses on it. This shows how much we respect ourselves and how dissatisfied we are with our own culture and identity. I have never heard the Muslims boasting that they love pork or even arguing that it should be allowed. Not because they don't have the brains of some of the smart asses on this website but because there is something called honor, identity, tradition and self respect that make us human beings and people do care for that. It is only we Nepalis, destined to be refugees and slave of everyone who argue pointlessly against our own culture instead of engaging in something productive.

I am not advocating that no one should eat beef. If that is the only thing available to you then what can anyone say. You have to live; you have to eat. But what I urge you Nepalis is that don't boast of it. Don't try to dismantle a good aspects of our society. If you want to exercise your freedom then speak against the evils of hinduism not against its best features.

tero dai,

I agree.

There are few who have no respect for their culture and will do anything. Usually these people and their family (new generation) will have cultural crisis, for sure.

Also there are few in this thread who flood it and it appears that most of the Nepalis do not care about their culture, which is not the case.

my 2 pennies.

Shivaji,
There are many who adopts the new local
culture and do not forget the mother culture.
Most of us are eating Porky momos and hamburger.
I do not know any Nepali who does not eat hamburger
or does not drink Budweiser in TEXAS.
Tell me some names who does not drink Budweiser/Michelob or some kind beer or winecooler and does not eat a cheeseburger.
Do not try to cover your face just in front of others.
Look your face at the mirror when you are alone.
Eating cow does not mean that one does notrespect their culture.
What about eating Pizzas, Tacos, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Sea Food.
You eat them don´t you? You live life long with Uncle Ben´s paraboiled rice.
I am born as a buddhist and I am still buddhist.
Buddhist do not have such restriction what you may eat or not.
Ask your Japanese, Chinese, Tibetan, Srilankan, Korean friends.
In Nepal this restriction was brought by Ranas to keep their satutus holier and higher. What about Sati Pratha?
Does your mother or your wife jump into the fire when your father or you die?
Do not forget to take your wife with you when you die?
Do not try to be PAKE BUDDHIJIBI.
I hate this kind of debate.

sayami,
you can eat what ever you want but you have no right to make fun of your own culture which prohibits eating beef. Beef is not about religion it is about culture. Not eating beef is the core of our culture.

I cannot speak for anyone who live in Teaxs, may be there are people who eat beef in Teaxa but I do not care. I care when people like you come in public forum and advertise for the beef industry and degrade our culture.

>> I am born as a buddhist and I am still buddhist.

good for you and I hope you will learn to be a vegetarian soon because most of the buddists I know defy violance and are vegetarians and live by it.

>> In Nepal this restriction was brought by Ranas to keep their satutus holier and higher. What about Sati Pratha?..
>>I hate this kind of debate.

The above statement shows how little you know about your own country.

What about sati pratha?? What is your point?? I am sure you know by now that sati pratha is illegal!

If you cannot take different opinion and hate debate why the heck you come here??

I come here to educate people like you who sticks with gundrucholo and earns dollars.
Was not Sati Pratha a part of culture?
Not eating beef will also be illegel one day in Nepal.
Just do what you think do not disturb other who eat beef.
Otherwise go back to Nepal and earn Holy Rupees.

Sayami jee, I disagree with your claim-- " Most of us are eating Porky momos and hamburger. " I believe that whomever i know residing currently in US, not more than 10% eat ham. Infact, not even a single has said me of doing that even when I speak in an encouraging way with them to disclose the fact if there is any. Next, In Canada I have found many Nepalese not eating any item that looks like made up of any kind of meat (such as pizza) and even those who take, they make sure that that is not beef.

So, how come "most of us" eat pork or beef?

Sayami jee, come on man. Don't say like this. Not eating pork or ham does not mean of not spending money in other food, right?

we must understand, including Sayami that some people do not eat beef not because they want to preserve our culture, but because they simply don't like eating it.

IF YOU DO NOT EAT BEEF; PLEASE GET OUT OF THIS THREAD IMMEDIATELY.
The Original question of this thread was... HOW MANY OF U EAT BEEF..
It was not about why do not you eat Beef and how many of you eat Dhedo and gudruk.
Do not disturb the Beef eaters.
Send your name for Gyane ko KATI KHANE waiting list instead.
Is that precise Answer ?.

it is a personal choice. i do not eat beef because i don't see the necessity. if there is no other option then i might.

yes beef, pork, chicken all are meat so is cat, dog (some people eat dogs), horse(some people eat horse) and so on they are all protein made of similar amino acids. in fact human flesh is also meat made up of same amino acids as that of any other animals. but we don't eat all of the animals. some of us will puke just by the mere thought of doing so.

so what is the bottomline. as long as you are comfortable eat whatever you want, without violating the law of the state that is. ( i don't recommend eating humans, it is illegal)

talk to you guys next time, don't be proud of what you eat or what you don't, it all turns into Shit next morning regardless of what it is.

thankeww
P.S. nobody can destroy a culture and nobody can protect it either. because i think culture is a everchanging phenomenon. do you think "nepali culture" today is anything like it was just 50 years ago? NO. if your answer is Yes you are lying to yourself
