People regularly argue over the birthplace of Buddha - India or Nepal etc and different groups claim different things but this video is a short aim to spread the truth, spread that 'Buddha was born in Nepal, not in India' on the 17th April 2010. This is not to create rifts between different people. Back when Buddha was born Lumbini may not have been a part of India or Nepal but today it is in Nepal therefore we have the rights to say the birthplace of Buddha is in Nepal. I hope you all help me in spreading the correct information. Please put that as your status on facebook, twitter on the 17th. Thank you and please watch the video.

It is true that Siddharta Gautama spent of his life in India teaching his dharma. In his teachings, the Buddha retained many elements of the vedic religious teachings of India of his time, including the concepts of samsara and karma. However, the Buddhist differed from the vedic teachings in a sense that Buddha opposed the animal sacrifices. In addition the Buddha taught that anyone regardless of caste who followed the Eightfold Path could achieve nirvana. During his lifetime, the Buddha institutionalized his teachings by forming the sangha. It is written that the Buddha lived till nearly eighty years and died under the sal tree in Vaishali. It is also believed that the Lord Buddha died at the same day he was born. The last sermon before he died was quoted “decay is inherent in all component things; work out your salvation with diligence!” Nelson, 148. Though Buddha can mostly attribute to be an Indian, he wasn't born in India. But he preached most of his time in India and he died in India too, this is a tuth. Very intesreting fact is that Buddhism existed and flourished in Nepal though by 12th-13th century, Buddhism had ceased to exist completely in India, the very place where Lord Buddha gaining enlightenment had preached his doctrines before he died. It was mainly due to Hinduism and Islamic domination and suppression of the Buddhist in India.

Perhaps, to settle the dispute, once and for all, over where Buddha was born, Bollywood seems to be coming to the rescue.

New Delhi, Apr 15 (PTI) In a first to Bollywood,
director Ashutosh Gowarikar has launched a worldwide online
hunt to find a perfect face to play Gautam Buddha in his next
venture.
The filmmaker, whose credits include hits like
'Lagaan' and Jodhaa-Akbar', is planning to bring the story of
Buddha's life on the big screen. The story focuses on the life
of prince Siddhartha and his journey to enlightenment where he
becomes Gautam Buddha.
Buddha is an historical epic story that appeals to
young as well as mature global audience and Gowarikar wants a
face who can portray the journey from innocence to
enlightenment perfectly.
"I have always been fascinated with the story of
Prince Siddhartha who renounced his life of luxury and family,
in search of an answer to what causes human suffering and
subsequently attained enlightenment and came to be known as
Buddha.
