Guys, its totally ur decision to eat beef. But for those who wanted the answer to the question "why can't we eat beef?" we've always drank cow's milk therefore we worship cow as a mother and according to our religion we should not consume milk and the meat from the same animal. it makes sence to me and its just my thought. i dont eat beef coz i personally dont feel comfortable drinking their milk and eating them.

In past to make the rules rigid, they make it part of religion. So did in Jews and Muslims, pork was and is the carrier of TAPEWORM and at that time it was incurable and many people died. To stop the death, made it is untouchable in their religion.
Now it is up to you, how you want to carry on the culture.

Its totally depends on individual choices, beliefs, family values, teachings and most of all determination. I guess Hindu Nepali are more likely to eat beef in US and other countries, than any other Hinuds. I don't know why?
Mr. Evil................. Why did you say that "we worship cow like a mother" when you eat that. It means you don't respect your mother too. You don't worship cow, do you?
Mr. copicat ur absolutely right
Mr. bored in Biology human is also animal that means we should start eating human too.
We should learn something from Muslim. Even if they are born here they do not eat pork or even Starbrust candy becoz it has a pork fat. They pray nawaz 5 times a day. Thats determination. Trust me not all of them are terrorist/ etremist. They respect thier religion thieer culture.
You guys represent Nepal I guess most of you are Hindu. So think twice before eating beef. I have friends who are hindu and eat beef. I have a friend a buddist Nepali, who don't eat beef becoz hes a Nepali. After all its your choice.

i love steak. I try and avoid red meat and sometimes meat altogether for health reasons..but I have never been able to resist a good steak or my personal beef momo. yum. I am still religious <--which I think is subjective - in many ways - worship idols or follow hindu philosophy ? I believe religion is a way of life - i believe in hindu philosophy but my way of life includes beef. yum.

Cow produces milk for it's calves. We steal the milk that is meant for her baby and worship her as our mother in return!
If Cows could speak I am sure she will say: "Please eat me later and spare the milk for my baby."
Poor bhaisiz they become MOMO and Dahi at the same time you know why because Our religion says it is the devil Mahisasur so good to kill and eat. As for Cow it's holy because somebody said so.

Culture affects the individuals world view. Religion and culture are two different thing. Religion is one of the aspects of culture. Eating or not eating beef solely depends on one culture. However, if there is cultural diffusion in an individual than he/she might not adhere to the previous culture but may have intermediate culture. I have seen many Nepalese eating beef in the United States, and also many Americans taking complete abstinence from beef. The reason behind this is cultural diffusion. I personally don't eat beef because i like the idea of seeing cow as a mother. Seeing cow as a mother has very ancient story. You need to learn about Indus valley civilization and how cow saved the lives of children. Beside giving milk, cow also have many advantages from her urine and stool. Cow can be used as a multi-purpose. So, cow is like our mother who protects us. This is my personal view, and as i told you that people have different culture and world view. Beside this, killing cow or any other living creature is an inhumane act, we should stop it. We talk about human rights, but where is the animal right !!

As a studnet you have very limited options when it comes to food especilaly if you dont cook .But i havee seen and been to people's houses here in USA who do traditional Laxmi Puja and Gai puja and at the same time serve beef items while playinhg taas later that night after 12:00 mindnight .I ts in your beliefs . i chose to Eat beef coz i went to christian schhol when i was a kid in India i avoided it it took some time to get used to it but now in US im used to it.When i go back to nepal I know its a sin there ,although i had heard sumthin about gai being killed and eaten somehere in ktm. Its nothing about disrespecting your mother , According to the situation and surrounding i adjusted myself. I have few friends here who avoid beef 100% nomatter what ,i respect them for thier choice.

Their is no issue at eating beef at all, it totally depends on how every one perceives on it. In our religion their are many things that we are bidded by, but dude this is 21st century and their need some changes to be done. It is impotant some traditional values and belief should be respected, but it does not mean by eating beef we are not respecting our religion.
No offense thou, many brahmans of Nepal starting eating meat, most of the children of brahmans start eating it, does that mean they have disrespected religion, it depends on how you take it. In my family I should be a vegetarian, I support that when I am in home, but when I am outside I eat meat. Once I came to US, I tried beef, and I love Philly Cheese Steak, its on ones priority. I respect my culture, religion, beliefs but one should be restricted by that and should have some freedom on life to make it possible. Its hard to follow all the rules of religion.

Q:Why Hindus worship COW and do not eat beef? Ans: When a woman after giving birth cannot produce enough milk (or no milk) to breast feed her child THEN CLOSEST TO HUMAN MILK IS COW's! Our ANCESTORS WERE SMART PEOPLE even though they did not have COMPUTERS. Now, it is SCIENTIFICALLY proven that COW's milk can be treated as human milk100% .
Some Sajhaites have written in this thread: WHY WE DO NOT SACRIFICE COW WHEN WE CAN EAT OTHER ANIMALS. Ans: In addition to what I wrote above here's some more input: NOW IT IS PROVEN THAT COWS HAVE HORMONES WHICH ARE HARMFUL TO HUMANS! Even though the meat is prepared in the best manner possible the HARMFUL EFFECTS DO NOT DISAPPEAR!
Our Ancestors were aware of all these points AND THEREFORE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS Hindus have not sacrificed cow for FOOD! In fact our ANCESTORS were VEGETARIANS because again they were smart enough to know that OUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM is not MEANT TO BE NON-VEG!
Young NEPALESE or Indians or Hindus from another nation may get carried away and be rebels CHALLENGING OUR FOREFATHERS: WHAT can one say to a MATURE HINDU if he or she still wants to eat BEEF? Simply, NOTHING! If they decide to eat it beef they will suffer the consequences whether MORALLY, Religiously, plus DIGESTIVE problems etc., guaranteed!

Kalki,
When something is Scientifically proven then there must be a PEER REVIEWED JOURNAL published. Can we all have link to those verifying your claims?
Cow's milk is not 100% human milk. That is completely wrong. Cow's milk or any animal's milk for that matter have bacteria in them which may be harmful and even deadly for human consumption. This is the reason why pasteurization and boiling is recommended. Mother's ( i don't mean Cow) milk have anitbiotics which is good for the babies.
All meat products have certain risk associated with it not just Cow. Again if you have any study done about cow's hormone being especially harmful let us know. If cow's meat have harmful hormone then so will the milk as well. So your argument is invalid.
Humans are Omnivorous. They are capable to digesting most of the food types.
Lastly, Don't try to make any religion as if it is somehow scientific. You only would look like a Fool. I am sick of people trying to justify their beliefs by using pseudo scientific logics which has never been proven.
