(sorry for corrupted post:) New Royalist! I thought I am done with Sajha for few moths. However, when I read his Majesty’s car got stoned in BBC news as a top story of the day, I couldn’t stop myself from dropping few words. What a shame and what a best example of uncivilization to the world! Instead of discouraging such misbehavior, so called leaders will label it as the people’s sentiment. What a shameful culture! What a shameful politics! And what a shameless poeple! Maoists have taught us very wild culture. Kill them! Beat them! Hit them! Wipe them out! Eradicate them! These are Enemies! ..... These are the words Nepali society has learnt from these Maoists. I have always recognized their most of the political demands and agendas; however, I have never supported their principle …. Their self-righteousness cruelty and extremism have always been a repulsive force for me. Today country is divided, who taught this? Maoists! To make their so called peoples war they divided people by caste, culture, region and ethnicity. A tiny little country got divided into numerous pieces by the name of aweakening people. Now we all have witnessed how chaotic the country is being. There are better way to do right things. If your radio is not working, fix it properly; don’t hit it. Once it had worked by hitting doesn’t mean that hitting is the right way of fixing. What type of culture we are getting from these cruel people? What type of civilization we are learning? By the name of revolution these people introduced a culture of anger. A good quality is recognized by every culture, every society and everybody. …it is human to recognize good and bad. Tell me any civilized society which recognizes anger over forgiveness? Any society which promotes anger is uncivilized, premitive society. The poor king, who is left with nothing, is an object of compassion. He has done mistake but people are exaggerating his mistake. Few decades later when unbiased History will be written, I bet Prachanda will not remain hero. King killed 21 people and lost everything; Maoist killed thousands and got everything. Girija killed thousands and became hero of the country. Krishna Sitaula killed more than 21 and refusing to resign. It is too old logic to say king killed to impose autocracy where as Prachand are Girija killed for Democracy. Prachanda and Girija had had killed each others people. If you are saying Prachanda were right, Girija must be wrong and he must be punished. If you are saying Girija was right, Prachand must be wrong and he must be punished. If you blame on king for their kilsl, you must be jocking. Don’t blame only to Royal regime for our backwardness. Royal regime is responsible but we are equally responsible too. We have tradition to blame others. Do you know what type of culture we have? What to talk about other things we need foreign aid to dump our waste! We are not good ourselves how silly is it to expect our leaders to be good? Afterall we all share the same culture including leaders and the king. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hello everyone, I agree with you vishontar to some extent. I don't blame King solely for every worst periods that nepal is having to go through. Nepal's political scenario is in itself is such that you either are a puppet or a puppet master. No doubt that Late King Mahendra was a puppet master who turned the whole ball game into his favor, the curent happenings are nothing but the backlashes of his deeds. The present King is doomed having to enter into politics at the worst time of confusions, he did what he believed would make sense. The whim against King is so strong that even if he does right, it will be deemed wrong. By saying all this, I do not mean to prove the justness of kingship by any means. I am a staunch supporter of Republicanism, but at the same time I do not believe in blaming or punishing King. I strongly do not believe, a person can make or break a country, if it has to be praised or blamed, it should be the whole system, everyone around King, or any other groups. King is an emblem of law and justness. Lot of people have big faith on the King, that he can do better for country, I say why cannot we ??? If one King can make a country, then why can't 27 million Kings and Queens....... Why wouldn't Republicanism work ??? If you insist the need of King, let the best person rule the country, and let Kingship not be hereditary. I know its easy said than been done, but it is not impossible, all that is needed is love for Nation, not in words only but in work.

Well Said Vishontar: To support or not to support the KING becomes a minor issue infront of the bigger picture.....DO you support your country? Ask yourselves, do you? Sadly enough, I hate to say, we didnot get that commitment from our leaders.....We voted for them, we fought for them, but they never fought with us...because our fight was against the poverty, against hunger, against caste-system, illiteracy, untouchabilities, so on and so forth. BUT, our politicians fought for their own good......fought for the position in the government, fought for a lavish lifestyle, and above all, they fought for themselves. If we have to blame, we can blame each and everyone of us.....when we were misled time after time, all we sought was a change, a mere change rather than taking the time to think what is good for us, and what is not......If king was the problem, there is no way Maoism is the better alternate. However, our leaders felt that was the only way to get back their coveted Government, and theirgovernmental positions thence. And, us, the people supported them.............Granted not each and everyone of them supported one or the another, but we gave them a free pass to do whatever they wanted. God forbid, we are heading towards a major major civil crisis, and this time, end is no where in sight.........

I totally agree with VISHONTAR and would like to add something as well. I admit that the king missed out such a big oppertunity to save this country and at the same time be a national hero. However I donot blame him for the corruption and killings during his period. If there is one thing that I blame him for is for not being able to manage and know the true picture of the people he chose. However we people are also to be blamed for what happened during the king's rule. We never believed on him and gave him the three years that he had asked for. Rather, we demonstrated against him from the begining and most of his efforts and time during his rule were spent to keep the people calm. He could never peacefully think for the proper governance of the country. I will be more than happy if the ministers during the king's rule are punished as per the Rayamajhi committee's report. But at the same time, the responsible ministers of the current government shall also be punished on the same ground because I dont see any difference on what the royal ministers did and what todays so called "Republic Government" did during the terai unrest and has been doing. Talking about the probe committee and the punishment, I believe that the committee and the recent report it disclosed against the members and employees of RCCC (Shahi Aayog) is the worst and the most shameful committee and report in the history of any country that has been struggling for one simple reason, "Corruption". I think that it was the only institution that did something good during the king's rule. In the end, to say something about maoists: Almost all of us have always believed that no matter how much you tame and domesticate a junglee animal, it will never be truely yours and always remain junglee. It will always be looking for one chance to strike on you for bringing them out of the jungle and trying to tame and civilize it. The same is the case with our junglee maoists. Jai Nepal.

"The poor king, who is left with nothing, is an object of compassion. He has done mistake but people are exaggerating his mistake." Vishontar-ji, he's not a poor king; given a chance, he will again impose curfew, he will again shut down the telephone, even the media, he will again increase the fund by thousands of dollars to the royals and aseypaseys. He could very well be dormant, albeit slightly discouraged, but still trying to take power if the things were favorable. In this ground, I remember what VincentBodega,in one of the threads, had said: If a Nepali spends more than TWO RUPEES a day, for every two rupees spent a Nepali goes hungry. How many Nepalese do you starvel a day? People fight for their cause. Very true, the king- who is one of the richest kings from one of the poorest countries of the world, and where people literally die because they don't have enough food (diet); they like to stone their so-called king until he is in the power. Or simply it could be a very committed then royalist until Birendra's regime, who is so mad at his and his family's murderer. Gyanendra may not be a murderer to some, but of course to many, for instance, like those few people (among many), who dared to stone him! He is not the object of compassion, but the object of hate.

King killed 21 people and lost everything; Maoist killed thousands and got everything.

अनि त्यो उपेन्द्र यादब भन्ने मसिहाले राजाका दागु (दाँया गु$ल्$)भरत केसारी सिंह समेत को उपस्थितिमा गोरखपुर मा भएको हिन्दू अतिबादी सम्मेलन मा राजा बाचाउन भारतीय मित्रहरु लाइ इ गुहारेको फोटो र समाचार हेरे पछि , त्यो आगो को झिल्को भारत बाट आयातित हो भन्न कर लाग्यो र आज यसै धागो मा एक जना मित्र ले लेख्नु भयो- if Madhesis are given rights, and Monarchy is restored with full power, king being the sole powerful person, we Madhesis are ready to give up the revolution to divide state, and Most Importantly, we will need HINDUISM, the HINDU State.

Rahulvai: But again, you only explained one side of the story.....Also, your explanation does not necessairy justify what is currently going on in the country. I bet you know very well as well as we all do, the division among various caste system was created by Maoism 6-8 yrs ago. That was one of their recruiting tool....fair or not, that's the truth....I am not talking about the current Madhesi fiasco....the original separationalist theory was proposed and implemented by Maoists, and that was in fact the basis of their movement.....Can you explain the motive behind the Maoists trying to buy weapons from India (Kashmir) recently when they are represented in the House?? Can you explain why a poor country like ours should have 2 separate armies? When your very own Maoist leaders keep saying the polulation our Nepal Army should be reduced..... This is the very phenomenon that has blinded the Nepali populous for so long......The so called Visionary leaders have no vision whatsoever............all they preach is how to get back the gevernment from other parties/King.....No one has stepped on how to develop the nation. Their selfishness has blinded them inside and out. The selfishness is so high that one party becomes 4 in a matter of weeks. Why so?? Coz' everyone wants to enjoy the FREE piece of the pie.....that the Government of Nepal is so willing to distribute among the ministers and themselves...... We as normal citizens are not asking for money. We want peace. We want prosperity, not for ourselves, but for the country as a whole. But again, these types of feelings are flushed by our Politicians down the toilet every single day.....Why would they care? Why did the present Govt. distribute more than 300 mil to Maoist Army??? The truth is, you and I can cry all we want....and voice our opinion on a public forum like this....and it ain't gonna do anything....Unless our populous can differentiate the right from wrong.........There no way in shape or form am I saying the King was right, but, I don't think you can justify that Maoists are right for what they have been doing, before and now, after being a part of the Government..........May be its too much to ask from our leaders, who are masked by greed, arrogance, neoptism and the likes....

Vishontarji, I really enjoyed your spiel: King killed 21 people and lost everything; Maoist killed thousands and got everything. Girija killed thousands and became hero of the country. Krishna Sitaula killed more than 21 and refusing to resign. The unfortunate state of Nepali politics is summed by the aforementioned sentence. Slackdemic, What you did with my quote is a good example of what we call "taking things out of a context." When we are measuring the pathetic economic stature of Nepal, each and every one of us is "King Gyanendra" (if you know what I mean). So I think its time to bear the responsibility than point fingers. Khaobadi, May be a more appropriate question would be, "who is a nationalist here?"

some dude wrote, "King killed 21 people and lost everything; Maoist killed thousands and got everything. Girija killed thousands and became hero of the country. Krishna Sitaula killed more than 21 and refusing to resign." Dude, that is called "Bhagyaa". Some hit multi-million dollar jackpot without even ever working and some still dont have anything left even after working all their life...I guess the Maoists certainly hit that multi-million dollar jackpot and the king is one who lost that jackpot.

VincentBodega: I never knew quoting what you said would be, according to your standard, one of the logical fallacies. Now, I guess I should stop myself talking more because it could be hasty generalization! Khaobadi, the first time I "knew" you was when you started posting in support of Govinda Raj Joshi. I really thought you were his kin or something to be so supportive of him. Now, I know how wrong I was..I really find most of your postings hilarious and interesting!
