My wife and I have been having sleepless nights for several months because of our nine-month old daughter Grace. She wakes up at least 5-7 times every night and want us to either play peek-a-boo or dance at the tunes of ciera and "bhatkaidinchu bakhra ko khor pani". A well composed person at all times...I go crazy when this little girl throws tantrums.I hate sleeping at night in my own house just to wake up many times again. She is not cholic...and she does not even cry....she just wants us to play with her at odd hours...we tried everything...I even took her for a drive at 2:00 am in the morning just to see if she sleeps in motion. We have changed her crib and her small swing twice...fed her enough till she is about to disgorge, but nothing changes...we have experimented enough...but it does not help....Her pediatrician thinks it is absolutely normal. yeah right! cos my daughter does not wake her up at night. Can anyone help my little princess Fiona not turn into ogre when the sun goes down? Any smart tips? any grandma's recipe? Please help!!!!!

John_Galt: Your privilege of going movies like Sin City are no longer lol, once that beautiful angel stepped into this world.:) Matter of fact, why go watch the movie when all the drama happens around that kid. My distant cousin had a baby...and I have seen what he had to go through...He had the same problem like you, the baby waking up in the middle of night and ruining it all..esp when he had to go to work in the morning..Truly brutal...Like someone mentioned above, you should try to indulge the baby during evening..Not let her sleep..so that she can go to bed peacefully at night...However, dont forget to let the baby sleep for 14-15 hrs..or else they are going to look febble.

Few tips I think would be helpful. 1. Check the room temperature (she may be feeling too cold or hot, so that she may have waken up). 2. Change her diaper just before sleeing and use (at least at night) the good diaper ( I think you do) so that her diaper is not too wet during night. 3. Do not let her sleep after 3 pm, so that she may feel little tire and have a good sleep. I need to go, i will post more later.

Hey John- Be really really careful before giving her Nutmeg. I know people take nutmeg as a hallucigen to get high. You really need to find out Dosage and Response for infant for this substance before considering anything. I found something at a website (hyperreal.org). Warning: The following dose of 5-20 grams is how much druggies intake to get their high! But based on this, it doesn't sound good even taking 0.0001 gram. NUTMEG Family: Myristicaceae Genus: Myristica Species: fragrans Usage: 5-20 grams of ground nutmeg is ingested. Fresh ground is best. Can also be taken in a "space paste" concoction (see below). Space paste is difficult/expensive to make and tastes like shit; however, it may actually decrease the side effects. Effects: Possible nausea during first hour; may cause vomiting or diarrhea in isolated cases. Takes anywhere from one to five hours for effects to set in. Then expect severe cottonmouth, flushing of skin, severely bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils. Personally I compare it to a very, very heavy hash buzz. "Intense sedation". Impaired speech and motor functions. Hallucinations uncommon in average (5-10 gm) doses. Generally followed by long, deep, almost coma-like sleep (expect 16 hours of sleep afterward) and feelings of lethargy after sleep. May cause constipation, water retention. Safrole is carcinogenic and toxic to the liver. History: Nutmeg was a very important trade item in the 15th and 16th centuries. It was a precious commodity due to the enormous medicinal properties of its seeds. Slaves on the ships bringing nutmeg to Europe got in trouble for eating part of the cargo. They knew that a few large kernels of nutmeg would bring them a pleasant, euphoric feeling, and relieved their weariness and pain. Nutmeg was even used when the feeble King Charles II almost died of a clot or hemorrhage. His death a few days later did nothing to detract from its useful reputation. Rumor spread through London that Nutmegs could act as an abortifacient. The ladies who procured abortions from nutmeg were called "nutmeg ladies." Interaction precautions: MAO inhibitor Active Constituents: Methylenedioxy-substituted compounds: myristicin (non-amine precursor of 3-methoxy-4,5-methylenedioxyamphetamine [M-MDA]) elemicin, and safrole.

John Galt.. beautiful baby!!!! how about chamomile bath? .that always helps me sleep better ;-) Otherwise I read somewhere if u gently massage (soothe) the baby they sleep better. My mom used to do it to be all the time..even no if i get a nice little massage or the little scratchin thing of the hair I get sleepy. PLUS HERE IS A SITE http://www.askdrsears.com/html/7/T070300.asp This is about earlier mention of not being able to go the movies..this is about certain LOWES theater having a baby day where u kan bring ur kid into the movies..but then again kids dont have attention span so i doubt ud be able to watch the movie in peace..but could u hire a babysitter for couple of hours? I mean I have babysat alot of kids just kause the parents needed somethinking time! Then again some went clubin and didnt come back till 2am!

hello john ! here are some tips for you. i hope it will help you. 1. don't let your baby sleep at the evening. 2. try to make your baby sleep at afternoon until evening. 3. after that, let your baby play from evening to night or take your baby outside. but don't let your baby sleep as far as possible after evening. 4. i hope, if you manage this then your baby will not wake up until morning. be sure to feed your baby enough so that your baby may not wake up due to hunger. ok best of luck

my mom tells me that i was an owl too and a screamy one at that...to end her troubles..she made sure that i was active alll day ...not too many long naps ....and my elder sis played with me like i was a life size doll...added with cozy bed.and comfy nappies....warm bath and enough milk before i went to bed.... and hey if your baby is teething or some food hurtin her tummy that would wake her and wake you up as well...make sure the room is airy ...mellow sounds of jingles over the bed and if you're not sleeping with the baby make sure a fluffy teddy is holding her..a sense of love/security.. gosh i love babies..all sizes and i'm just lucky that i became an aunt this past easter..sista's got another doll to play with............
