He meant it by ale and pun are more educated than thapa and ranas'. you can see this disparity which is truth too. There is a reason to happen in that. Have u heard of Nepals' first Martyr LAKHAN THAPA. He was the first one to oppose RANA AUTOCRACY and he was the first one to be hanged by Regime at that time. He have formed his rag tag army which defied the rana rulers it was started in Gorkha. This things were catching in its surroundiing places too like tanauh, palpa. The majority of the ppl who participate in this were magars especially thapa and ranas'. Thats why once they were crackdown regime went on further to demolish this two. Like ppl were force to enlist to serve a Queen of England to have a good grip on its colonies. Thats why u will find thapa and rana magar from malayasian peninsula to Island of Jamaica. As u know magar were not allowed to speak their language just of this rebel from Mr. Thapa. Where as Ales' didnt participate, were not in their target zone so they escape this systamatic oppression of targeted ppl. Well by saying that i am not trying to say that others were not denied their basic rights by rana's . what i am trying to point here is these two were targeted more vigorously.As for Pun they live high in mountains so they were not affected by it. Also Pun are the ppl who live near the border of tibet. We know that we have a trade with tibet since history. Thats why u can see Pun have got much more Bzness attitude among magars.

yes Bhimsen Thapa was indeed a magar.
When Shree Panch Rajendra BB SHAH was living as a sanyasi in kashi, there was a political turmoil in nepal. 2 queens were fighting for power. when it got out of hand it was Bhimsen Thapa who connvinve Sanyasi Maharaj to come back to nepal. While his journey back to nepal. he heard a rumour that there are army ready to capture him. When he heard that news he yelled at Bhimsen Thapa infron to his aides " YO KAMARA KO CHORA LE MALAI MARNA NEPAL MA LIYERA AAYO, YO RAANDI KAMARA KO CHORA LE MALAI BITYAAS PARYO". Here by saying this i am trying to say who have a kamaro pratha in nepal except in magars. I mean at current time it was in magar ppl who were kamara and kamaris'. they used to sold their kids due to poverty. So now u can guess who Bhimsen Thapa is? By the way there is some interesting thing too one of my Granpa ( he is my ganpa cuz of my step brother, whom i love dearly) was told by some priest that if he give him 10 000 gold coin than he will change his gotra and make him rana thakuri since he was rana magar. You know changing all this tidbits and that will change him to rana thakuri bau sahev. Well he didn't accept that and he remained rana magar.

Magar have Rai ancestors, so indirectly Bhimsen Thapa is a Rai.

Rai are the first people to come to Nepal and everyone came after us.

I could see why, like me, most of us are more curious about Bhimsen Thapa's history.
Swaati has a point, though I cannot vouch for the truth on the statement.

Bhimsen Thapa (can we name him the Nepali Nepolean?) was one of the better army rulers that Nepal ever saw (after Prithvi Narayan Sha). Ruler, because he had most of the control despite the presence of the King Rajendra Bikram Shah. History tells us that he had organized the Army force so well that even British didn't know how developed they had gotten.

Coming back to his ancestary, well if we trace everything back we might come to one root (may be not). But Bhimsen Thapa had 'Singh Thapa' Brothers who were chhetris and were in high posts in Durbar.

I cannot remember it too well, but historian Baburam Acharya had written a book about Bhimsen Thapa and I believe he did mention that he WAS a Magar, though. Somebody needs to verify that, my memory is getting older than my age.

But whatever his ethnicity/cast is, he was one of the bravest and boldest leader we had. Remember, it wasn't exactly the Pandeys who toppled him. They got the help from the British whom Bhimsen Thapa was against of.

So the conclusion is: Bhimsen Thapa is Chinese.

SimpleGal is right.............. Bhimsen Thapa was a Bagaley Thapa.... I can't comment on him not being a magar, but so far what I have heard he was a Bagaley thapa.... I have yet to hear discussion by a legal panel claiming him a Magar Thapa..
But for right now.. Boys and Girls he is a Bagaley Thapa... and he has long line of generations who are bagaley thapa... how know.. one of my jawai is Bagaley Thapa..

i think vimsen thapa was magar coz i dont see him bagale thapa from any angle dude..............his looks he dont have chettri thapa looks by the way all the thakuris dont have any chettri looks........................our history has been manupulated..........and the conflict between panday and bagaley thapa still exist..........by the way gotra of vimsen thapa is godar ..............and there is some godar thapa direct decendent from vimsen thapa living in bhairawa who ran away to save there life after pandey's conflict and his death...............
