I just wonder how many PhD holders/students are the 'yatri' of sajha. I think, we have a good number of Nepalese origin PhDs in sajha and some of them are-Nepe, Ashu, Isolated freak, O.K. I may not be necessarily talking about forming a doctoral club in sajha but sharing our experiences related to our field may help us academically and professionally and most importantly it may give us a rough estimation of doctoral Nepalese Diaspora. I am looking forward to your opinion. Nut

Isolated freak, if i remember correctly, you have mentioned some where in my thread called "china becomming super power" that ur working on ur dissertation and some of the aspects of ur dissertation is to deal with china becoming super power and i assumed that ur expert in that field and u had very interesting and insightful discussion with Poonte bro (that was the reason behind my assumption and i included ur name in this thread). Forgive me if i had wrong assumption! You are not mistaken. Yes, I am writing my dissertation (well, haven't started writing it yet, but doing research and all that) for my Master's, not for Phd and it has a lot to do with China and the balance of power in East Asia. I am not an expert, just a student. Come on man, no apologies needed :-)

Isolated dai, You mentioned somewhere earlier that you don't carry PhD, but may be sometime in future. Again you wrote you are writing dissertation on some xyz stuffs. I am now confused between the literary meaning for "dissertation" and "thesis". Isn't "dissertation" meant for PhD and "thesis" for master degree? Probably in China master level research piece called as the diz!!

Well Nut, Thanks for your nice introduction about your project and u r right that I am from Biratnagar. My research area icludes The Knockout analysis of Mouse Embryo of protein SNARE (Vti1a and Vti1b). These proteins are a group of proteins which are responsible for vesicle trafficking within cells. There are more than 30 SNARE proteins so far been discovered. and Each proten makes complex with other three SNARE protein and carryout their action like it may help during exocytosis. So our Vti1a and Vti1b double knockout mouse die before the birth and I am analysing why this mouse die and what are the abnormalities lies in Brain. I know this is difficult to understand at first time, but it happens for everyone, if you tell your project, it may be difficult for me..............the science is like this ............nobody knows everything.......isn't it? Smile Ajay

Dusmanji wrote...Goras don?t give a shit about me so let me go to the nepalese community and brag about my pathetic achievement... I don't know how could you reach into this conclusion but u are free to make any kind of assumption and express it in here. Let me tell you that this thread was not started to get any short of publicity (i don't know how u could get publicity by exchanging your doctoral /research experiences with anonymous names). The primary aim of this thread is to bring together all the Nepalese Diaspora with doctoral degrees and share their experiences. The second aim is to inspire aspiring new generation of Nepalese Diaspora to peruse doctoral degree and achieve leadership status in their areas of expertise. You may have seen how chinese and in particular Indians are being able to recognize and establish themselves as talents and leaders in academia by encouraging more and more aspiring students to go for graduate programs. If they can do so why don't we? I have several examples of Nepalese doing excellent performances in academia. Recently i came across one Nepali dai from John hopkings who was really requested by some of the best medical universities to join as their faculty, is not this is something that we all most be proud of his achievement. I guess this would help you to rethink about reshaping your assumption. This is not something about bragging publicity this is something about sharing your experiences and about encouraging new generations. Akunwarji, oh yea your research is really interesting.. I think I am familiar with the vesical transport and SNARE proteins I guess these proteins are required for the vesical maturation and for their transport. Thank you very much for sharing it to us. Matrixrose and Hushpuppy, two most beautiful (I mean inner beauty and optimistic about outer beauty as well!!) ladies in sajha thanks for sharing the podium!! Both of you have been doing wonderful job here in sajha. I have been really impressed by your skills for critical evaluation of matters and expressing your opinion with different prospective (in fact that?s what a graduate student is supposed learn!!). Finally, thanks to you all who have commented on this thread. Nut

Hi Nut Ji, It is one of the nice threads for the people who are interested in Science. Like there are several threads for people with different interest. This is good forum to bring people of same interest closure. Good start. Let me briefly describe about my work. Since last 6 years (including my PhD work), I analyzed conditional Knockout mice, in which Insulin Receptor was knockout out in the CNS using Cre-loxP system That was one of the good project I handled during my PhD. Currently, I am analyzing M3 receptor Knockout mice (tissue specific and whole body Knockout) and trying to find out their roles in insulin release and in obesity. I also analyzed them in respect to salivary secretion and amylase release. Nutji and kunwarji nice to know about your project. Keep writing

Nut ji, I appreciate your effort in starting a thread like this in a forum like this where people are bound to be skeptic about everything you tell or do :). Being in science field myself, I have realized what difference a network makes in one's career, job, and life. and the people who have these network are bound to have higher educational degree. I am sure the initiation like this will not only bring the scientific and professionals together to discuss their respective field, but also help many of the youngsters who are confused and in dilemma ( I was one for a long long time) to make a decision about their educational pursuit or even help them get jobs that will transform their lives. however, this initiation i hope is not limited to Ph.D holders :) Finally, Nut and ajay dai, do you know anything a bout the initiation of research center in Nepal in near future? I hear few guys in jhu are involved.

Ashu ko naak jhan thulo bhayo hola yo thread pade pachi. Just to clarify, he neither holds a Phd degree nor he is working toward it....at least to my knowledge. This thread could be a hub for scientifically inclined sajhaites. However, nepali ko khutta tanne bani le, I could see the humble scientists shying away from here. Having said this, I am glad to see there are few of us in here who want to make a difference in world in the arena of science. Oys Chill, did you start grad school?
