All sajhaits who
1 - are making racist comments
2 - deny cooperation with minority communities
3 - think they are not responsible for the problems faced by poor and backwarded people in nepal, they

must see this video. It shows the ground truth results that happened in Nepalgunj between pahade and madhesi people.

I wish, such riot should happen never again.

Why do we need cops?

It is an organized crime. All morons are visible in the video. Why are they never caught? Why were the cops sent? Aren't they the same cops who mishandled the peaceful protestors from 'Nagarik Samaj' and TU employees this week? SHAME ON ALL OF US. The gov. has formed a commission that is never going to do anything. COPS are just useless.

I feel bad for all those people who lost their all hard-earned money by these vandalism. UNLESS WE MAKE THIS CULTURE OF NOT PUNISHING THOSE CULPRITS THAT ARE CLEARLY VISIBLE IN THIS VIDEO and other occasions like vandalism occurred on manpower agencies and media houses, it is going to happen again and again.

fu(kin hideous...wtf were the cops doing there? Why are we Neps so obsessed with destroying eveything? After watching this video, it seems that the Aristotleian way of governance is not gonna work in Nepal as we Neps are innately destructive...Felt sorry for the owners whose properties were vandalized/burnt (even worse was when the vandals broke down the small tin-shack). I sincerely wish we here could do something about all this lawlessness back home.
Whatever it is, the elected leaders need to provide an answer for this.

Here's an article that serves as a fitting background to what you see in the video clip above:

Draw the line
It’s not just pahadis that need to change their mindset

SHEETAL KUMAR

From NEPALI TIMES Issue #330 (2007-01-05 - 2007-01-11)

Prime Minister Koirala recently announced that he was in touch with, and ready to talk to, the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM). The JTMM is a radical splinter of the Maoists, and is demanding an independent madhes. The JTMM has itself split into two groups—one led by Jay Krishna Goit and the other by Jwala Singh.

Whatever differences between the two, their aim and tactics are similar: both groups have led an anti-pahadi campaign in several eastern and central tarai districts, sowing terror and mayhem.

Koirala’s offer of dialogue looks perfectly fine on the surface. How best to nip a brewing crisis in the bud than by calling for dialogue, right? But consider why this ‘Nobel Peace Prize-worthy’ leader doesn’t issue a similar call to the moderate madhesis pining to talk to him and other senior leaders of the SPA government?

Maybe they have not noticed, but madhesi civil society leaders have still not received that call from Baluwatar so they can brief the prime minister on tarai issues. Yet the prime minister makes a conciliatory gesture to the JTMM. What message does this send?

To me, it seems pretty straightforward: no talking to you folks unless you pick up arms, sow mayhem, and call for secession, a la the JTMM.

If this is what our leaders want, it may not be too long before they get it, unfortunately. What we witnessed in Nepalganj last week was not merely a law and order issue. Neither can it be dismissed as instigated by ‘regressive elements’ or ‘religious fundamentalists’, though their possible role cannot be ruled out.

Nepalganj was, in essence, a clash of cultures and identities that has long been in the making. No matter how much religious or royalist colour you bestow on it, the underlying fact is that the violence was rooted in madhesi grievances and pahadi fears of subjugation.

It is tragic that Nepal’s politicians, media, and civil society have all failed to draw the proper conclusions from the riots. The probe commission, peace marches, and calls for communal harmony will have little effect until the real issues are dealt with.

Pahadi leaders may be completely ignorant of madhes dynamics, but we don’t see madhesi society trying to broaden its vision either. They are content to play the politics of victimhood, and prone to exhibiting the same knee-jerk reaction they accuse pahadis of.

Just last week, a pahadi bus helper was killed by JTMM radicals in Saptari for violating their transport strike. And yet, no madhesi group or intellectual specifically condemned it. There has been no sustained criticism of the anti-pahadi campaign by the JTMM in Siraha and Saptari, though it has been going on for months. The madhesi blogosphere today is full of anti-pahadi venom, and still there is no attempt to douse the flames.

No doubt, the discrimination against madhesis is genuine and pahadis would do well to address it now, before it’s too late. But madhesis need to realise that they too must change their mindset and view criminality for what it is. Remaining silent in the face of anti-pahadi crimes perpetrated in the name of madhesi liberation reinforces the worst stereotypes and fears. And it does their cause little good because, in the end, if positive change is to come in this country, it can only be achieved when the majority moderates on both sides reach out and forge a common cause.

So let’s hear madhesis denouncing anti-pahadi violence, and pahadis denouncing anti-madhesi prejudice. And Mr Prime Minister, before you make that call to the JTMM, how about talking to the moderates?

What you guys reported is one sided story. First of all the Nepalgunj incident happened because Nepal Sadbhavana Party thought they owned the terai and no one but the Madhesi could live there and that is the result of that. Remember it was the Sadbhavana Party men who tried to enforce the bandh even though the people did not want the bandh. When you try to enforce something on people thats what heppens. It was Sadbhavana Party who tried to test their might, not these people.

And another thing, why should I feel sorry for these Madhesi, when there is no criticism from the Madhesi about what is happening to our Pahadi brother from Terai. F**k these Madhesi bastards who want sympathy for their cause and think they can achive it through violence. If they could pick up guns then so can we, they will see if they keep going with the attitude of anti-Pahadi.

Ask that question to people who are running the Government. NOT US.
PEOPLE WHO RUN NEPAL AS A COUNTRY TO GROUND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS LAWLESSNESS NOT THE PEOPLE HERE IN SAJHA.

I am even more disgusted to read the caption of the video

" Last week of Dec 2006, for the 48 hours Pahadi ON madhesi violence in Nepal. Attack og life and property under Pahadi police COVER and PROTECTION."

It seems like somebody is using this incidence and this onesided, edited video to promote his/ her own hídeous agenda. It seems like this video is flimed, edited and publicised as propangada primarilly for the western audiences. Whoever , not familiar with the realities of the ground , and the incident would think of Dictatorial oppression by majority to a helpless minority. We all know that was not the case. There were loss of properties from both side and those who were doiing it were not doing it in the name of either Nepali, Pahadi or Madhesi, they were simply criminal.

But noticeable is that some people sitting in their comfortable heated homes in US is using the situation to divide the already splittered Nepalese society. and surprisingly they are getting more louder, successful.

We as people who love our country more than anything else should just learn to ignore these kind og propagandist.

I still remember how I felt as a child growing up .......my mom used scare me saying ..suta babu natra madishee le poko ma hale ra laijancha........getting bigger .....I dont remember who taught me but me and all the kids of our tole used to taunt madishee Bhayias........madiesee log bhari bok ek paisa dinchu khutta dhog....
we were just little kids...and we got a kick out of it..........later growing older.....I noticed that bhayias were doing pretty much everything like selling fruits, vegetables, collecting trash, beer bottels for money and pan shops and hair saloons........And other works. I always thought they were Indians because they talked Nepali funny and we always talked to them in Hindi to buy stuff.........When I went to high school...Kalamati looked like a Indian town and so did new road as walls were painted with the red spit of pan and suraj arked is a good example of it. That place smelt like piss and pan and agarbatti.....loud hindi music............later the discrimination against bhayias got worse as they took over kalamati.............Im sure many of us know the famous phrase used by the bhayias to the common people who tried to discriminate a bhayia......KALI MATI MA TA AAIJA TALAI DEKHAIDINCHHU................they became bolder and bolder. But they were always seen as a different kind of people ..........they always hanged around with their own kind and had their own way of life different than a regular Nepali.....but that doesnt mean they were not Nepali.............Some of them were Biharis too who looked alike the Nepali madishee and many were caught scamming the common people which might have added to the way they were all treated. I really came to my senses when I made good freinds with some madhishe car mechanics who lived next door and had a better understanding towards their way of life and after that I never did anything bad or discriminating to the bhayias.............I made many friends and I did respect their services to the common people...............I really feel bad why this is happening but I really blame for the different mentality we were forced to believe and grow up with ....Both ways madishe and the pahadi people...........they feel different and we treat them different...But reality they are Nepalese and we ought to respect that.........EXPECT THE ONES THAT COME FROM BIHAR INDIA AND ruin the reputation of ouy nepali madishes.

MadDoGG, Kudos to you and your lack of discrimination now. That was your personal war.
However, this here is a public war and personally I don't see your post's relevance here in a political sense.

I noticed that the video was taken by Mr. Bhagat who if I am not mistaken has written such venom against Pahadis and others calling them different names. And almost labelling them the devils while the madhesis are the "good guys" in his mind. What credibility does he even have now to report these incidents impartially.

I ask you ppl to take each video that this guy uploads in this issue (other issues, he hopefully has no other motive) with a grain of salt. Be sure that the video will have been edited to suit his own personal beliefs and will be one-sided like Rai has noticed in his post.

MadDogg you seem like a good hearted person, the real madhesays from India never accept the poor Nepali people who work hard for them calling them Bahadur and kancha so likewise if we call Madhesays Mudsya it is not a big deal, the people from the border (Nepal-India) have the advantage of dual citizenship. It is the economy that is not in their favor don't you think so? And when riots take place these poor people have to pay a price for nothing it is dirty politics and nobody can actually be responsible for this.

MadDogg read the thread this bhagat bastard wrote in his blogs you will understand what we are talking about then. Bhagat is a racist bastard himself and he is just blaming one group for the misery terai and its people.

You are definately right Birbhadra bro, but instead of closing it should be monitored and fenced by the armed guards of our country.

In our mother land....

There are ordinary hardworking honest patriotic Nepali people who live in Most of the village Hills.

There 2nd category people who claimed themselves Nepali and live in cities. Love India goods, Love Hindi movie, Love Hindi Song, Love to talk Hindi, Love Indian people, politicians, hero, heroines and love to be Indian. These people do all kind of crimes, corruption and illegal activities.

There 3rd category people who buy Nepali citizenship, passport and hold Indian citizenship as well as. These people do all kind of crimes and corruption with help of 2nd categories people. They looted bank money, open industries, business and earn Nepali currency. After that they transfer their money to India. They escape from Nepal. They never ever return Bank loan. When come to Nepal they only wear Doti... When they get out from Nepal they wear Gold, Diamond and drive Pajero.

We have to burn all Dotis store and build our own business.

We have to learn to live by our own. We have to be self-sufficient Independent.

Good job students

I have a list of probable solution for all our problems. They channel through the concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism which is also our only linkage with India. These concepts mixed with modernization should release Nepal from Sati ko Sarap.
For a successful Nepal India relationship and development I give you a 15 point program.
1) Hindu Nationalist BJP is to come into power in India.
2) The post of the President of India is to be abolished.
3) The wish of his holiness Shankaracharya, who has repeatedly declared the King of Nepal as the King of all Hindus living in the world, has to be implemented.
4) Thus, the King of Nepal is to be the ceremonial head of both Nepal and the Kingdom of India.
5) Both Nepal and India are to be declared Hindu Kingdoms.
6) Nepal cannot prosper without a conservative Hindu leader taking control of Delhi. The leader to be the next prime minister of India should be Uma Bharatri, who will treat all Hindus and Buddhists as they deserve.
7) All communists (both radical and liberal) must be sent to Gulag, for coining the word.
8) All minority religions are to be treated justly. They are to be respected as our own. However, there shall be no special treatment.
9) Anyone holding political, civil or administrative office is to declare their property before the elections or oath of office, (as applicable). Any unjustified additions beyond, should automatically result in apprehension of all their property in addition to a compulsory jail time.
10) Anyone holding office as the Member of Parliament, Secretary of any commission or Department and Foreign Appointments must have a Masters degree in any field of their choice. If not they are to be subjects of encouragement to go to college while in office. The government should take the education tab for such ignorant politician(s).
11) Minimum wage, maximum working hours and basic healthcare is to be provided for free to all citizens .This is to start with renovation if Bridhashram (old Age House) next to Pashupati. Subsequently, with time caste system is to be abolished for real.
12) Government is to take the education tab for primary and secondary education. It should increase the standard of its schools so that everyone would feel comfortable sending their children to a government school (rich and poor alike). In short, shut down pvt. schools not by force, but by market competition.
13) A national database is to set up that would record all possible information starting from drivers license, land ownership documentation, citizenship, probably sajha bus pass and may be (when we are at it) a govt. of Nepal issued credit/debit card.
14) All promotions and demotions of people holding public office should be public and on a point basis system.
15) Media is to be held responsible to make sure that all these guidelines are being met.

well
wat ever hapnd was very unfortunate i was in nepalgunj during that whole week of riots n closure. the only conclusion i can derive from that riots is that nepal's citizen are like flock of sheeps and they can be manhandeled by any shitty politician.my house is on the other side of the town which is not shown in video.there were two groups of people one who mere intentions was to loot the property and other the local resident of the market who were trying to save every budy shop.
the need of the day is to give up all the racism and start talkin about developement.there is no use discussing wat the dhotis are doing and what the pahadis are doin. the need of the day is to discuss wat we as a citizen is doing. every budy here knows whole country will be successfull when the individual groups will work together hence there is no use calling anybudy madhesi and pahadi and humilating him or her.
the person who did all these incident were bunch of coward politicians and hooligans who dun hav any thing to do. the only way for their survival is to loot others property.
