hp really sucks bro..... if u do want to get a hp, better take intel processer than AMD.. they do get heated up fast pretty soon, i wud suggest u for dell.

hey dude if you live close to any best buy. just go down there they have a toshiba for $499 most of the time. they are pretty good computers comes with centrino duo.......these computer are better than those cheap sh!t called dell.... and Hp

get that toshiba and spend 60 bucks on another stick of ram. uninstall all the toshiba software.. you'll be good to go..

and lastly remove norton....

so u might be interesting on gettin AVG or Avira anti viruses.......it's free to try.....

there are other good comp. but i suggest you the toshiba coz it'll be better for you price range and you'll also enjoy some left over in ur pocket.

Tosiba is also good but might be expensive compared to Dell..

I suggest you to to wait untill Vista is out and hear positive comment onthem .Nowadays Laptops are vista compatible but you don't get that for free if you upgrade.

for $1000 you can get Dell : 2GB RAM , 120 GB Harddisk, DVD writer - a really nice one.

ah well i am just waiting for vista and i need 4GB RAM.My HP is working fine for now.

Hey juttamojakattu bro, this is a very wrong time to buy a laptop bro. If you can hold yourself for a month or two. I am doing the same coz mainly for 2 reasons,

Pentium Duo 2 processor
Windows Vista

Both of them will be major change by early next year so if you hurry and buy laptop now without these it wont be that very good. Iknow Duo 2 has started coming in the market, but its still not there yet, you know what I am saying. I suggest you go hold yourself for a couple more months and buy laptop with Vista in it, orelse you will have to buy it later.

I am happy with windows 2000 for my laptop.. hmm.. a lot old hoina ta .. (O: works well in lot of cases. and mero cygwin is compatible (O: and I do not need to recompile all the add-ons... hoina bhane pheri week nai waste hunchha.. )O:

unless you use your laptop for GAMING and extensive memory using application [ like matlab, photoshop, cad). you should be fine with 1GB to 2GB memory and 1.75Ghz processor......

Toshiba or Sony is the good one in laptop. Don't go for DELL. Sony is expensive so toshiba will be good for you.

dell suks big time.....so does HP....toshiba shud be good if u r not doing lot of stuff in the computer

Go for TOSHIBA........ Cheaper as well as better performance, if you could just wait for VISTA but it will take another 5 months to come.....if you can't wait....... at least look for built in bluetooth/802.11 wireless, core duo processor, <80GB HDD, at least 1024 MB RAM.... Dude, all are integrated in TOSHIBA Satellite 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC (A105-S4254) for only $799.99 with printer and internet security in rebate. Go and get with circuit city.com. This is the best one because I have recently bought it after many research in the market..... hehehehe.
