Do most people think they should only marry people who are Nepali or do a lot think its okay to marry other races of people? Also is it more important to make sure you find someone in your own caste or not? In addition, do you think it is better for your parents to arrange a marriage for you? Like arrange dates with guys or girls until you pick one? Or do you prefere to find your own dates and if you do find your own dates do your parents think it is okay?

I think dating and finding people it should be your choice. And no i do not think it has to be someone from my caste and from my country. You like someone and you want to be with that person then you should do so. But if you need help in finding someone then for sure your parents can help you out too :-)

Dear Andrew WA: The questions you raised are quite interesting. So far as my opinion- well, why not with a different race, different caste and with different approach of marrying besides arrange marriage. I am not saying here that marrying same race and within a same caste circle via arranged marriage is an old fashioned one, but since we are now living in such a time, where we are free to make our own choice based on our own thinking. Marrying within a circle of our own caste and culture does not guarantee one with a success of happy and successful marriage; and marrying a different race also does not mean that we will come across so many compromises and conflict in our marriage life. I read once, one distinguished Nepali writer wrote- " Bihey bhane ko ta andhakaar maa haamfalnu jasto ho..." I think, when we look for our other half, we should not bother looking for the perfect person or perfect criteria to make it perfect match made in heaven- I think, when we look for other half, we should look for whether we are perfect for each other. Well, Andrew, you did raise a nice topic- and I have been perplexed myself for this kinda question for a while and wondering still with strong hold of my own hypothesis and theory. I am not sure.... Hopefully someday we will ultimately came across the answer, if not the whole, then atleast the proximity of those dilemma. Sahayatri Junkoholic

It is does not matter as long as you do right and do not pissing around. If you fooling around that hurts reputation of your and family, and you might mess-up your future life one way or other. Before your making a decision, make sure the person that you are choosing is right person for your life. Maybe, your family is depending on you and expects great vision from you. Do not mess up your family life, too. Do not be like a modern western and independent cool due but do know how to be. You are from Nepal

I think you should be able to marry anyone from any race. Like you should be able to marry a white girl or a white guy, or black, or mexican, or arabian, it does not matter. I think it is cool when 2 cultures can understand each other and be united. It makes the world better. Also I do not believe in fooling around or partying or like just having sex outside of marriage so I will not ruin my reputation or my families, also it is more healthy and the best moral choice to respect your future person even if you do not know them yet. ok bye.

why are you asking such ques...what suits for you may not suit for everyone else..what i'd suggest is do what you feel...at this day and age if i start thinking about caste color or creed, i'd be a moron...but this may totally be my opinion and as far i'm concern guys who start calcualtion what my body stat is or that of my pay and my grades..i'd hatethem more (its just not too nepali for me ..to prioritze material things in life firsT).... i hate to judge people and be judged...on standards set by bunch of morons...you have one life bro..so live it what your heart tells you too

Dear Hushpuppy: I do understand your feeling, but just curious, if given a choice, which we are always subjected to, don't we all prefer the better choice? That is just a human nature, but not the bunch of ideals sets by morons. Sahayatri Junkoholic

Marrying within the same caste is fun to begin with. The problem is each of the couple knows the secrets used in the caste over hundreds of years: styles of bhoj, festivals and problems are well understood ahead of time. So kind of very boring down the line. Marrying outside the caste is very problematic to begin with: difficult to understand the other caste's tradition. Once you become an expert in the others' secrets, it is fun to play the game from there on. Marrying someone from a different country is usually fun to begin with. You start with not having to think about your parents' intention and that of your parents-in-law. Once the stage passes when you feel that your sex hormones are fully satisfied to nostalgia and all of a sudden the hereditary hermones kick in, you will start missing your relatives and start wondering why. If I've to give a suggestion please go for what your conscience tells you to. But if your conscience is lagging behind your heart, go over my descriptions above. Scientifically inter-racial marriage gives chances to unique genes' combinations. For Nepalese inter-caste marriage is a good choice both in terms of similarities and variations. If your marriage fails let me know. It will provide me database to anlyze in leisure. As they say, "Marry in haste and repent in leisure".

what exactly is a better choice....its not what you think you want..what if you fal in love with a blind girl..who has everything else but is blind...now will you categorize her as handicapped and never cross her way..ouchh it hurts...you're thinking of better choice materialistically..as for me its humanity that counts..... or what if the girl whom you love (god forbid) turns blind then.......not live with her anymore....???? thinkaboutit..it all depends on your personal principal...and your action shows your character..........and hey the perfect packages likje Jessica simpsons are out there too...so maybe you';re right go for what you consider the best choice
