NEW DELHI, Feb 14 - Indian Army has claimed that a Nepali national, believed to be a Maoist leader, was arrested while purchasing weapons from the terrorist outfit Laskar-E-Toiba in the Indian state of Kashmir.
Indian Army spokesman colonel V.K. Mathur informed the Indian press that Pasang Lama, who the Indian Army claimed to be a Nepali Maoist leader, was arrested with Muhammad Yunus from one of the largest terrorist outfits operating in Jammu and Kashmir, Laskar -E-Toiba.

Lama was purchasing weapons from Yunus worth Rs. 500,000 at Rafiyabad of Barmulla in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army claimed.

Mathur said, "Pasang Lama was at Barmulla district to deal with Laskar-E-Toiba. He was arrested from Binar village. According to our investigation, it has been revealed that Nepal's Maoists have links with the terrorist group—Laskar-E."

Mathur, however, had no concrete evidence whether Lama was a Nepali Maoist leader or not.

According to sources at the Indian police, Lama, currently under security detention, had a cheque worth Rs. 277,000 for the first phase of a weapon purchase.

"Preliminary investigations showed that Lama has come to Kashmir time and again in the past five years as a businessman dealing in Pashmina shawls. He has admitted that he has links with the terrorists."

The police said Lama, hailing from Humla, was "involved in taking weapons back and forth between the ISI of Pakistan, Nepali Maoists and rebels in northeast India."

Lama used to stay in Laxminagar in New Delhi and for the past three months was in Kashmir, Mathur said.

No idea of how Maoists spending grant: Dr. Mahat

Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has said that the government has no knowledge of how the Maoists are spending money released by the government.

Reacting to lawmaker’s comment about the passivity of the government for the management of Maoist camps, Finance Minister Dr Mahat revealed that the government has released Rs. 350 million to the Maoiss at various intervals for ration, logistics and other needs of PLA personnel, adding, “But, the Maoists have not submitted the details of expenses incurred so far from the fund.”

He also informed that the government was about to release an additional 290 million rupees for management of Maoist camps.

He also said the budget handed over to the Maoists should be spent as per the government's financial regulations and the concerned side should present details to the government. Mahat also said the government has already provided basic needs of drinking water and 7 to 9 telephone lines in each cantonment site, besides managing road access to the seven cantonments.

Speaking on Monday’s session of the legislative parliament, lawmaker of People’s Front Nepal Lila Mani Pokhrel and other lawmakers expressed concern over the government’s passivity for the proper management of Maoist camps.

Speaking on Sunday’s session of the legislative parliament, Maoist lawmaker Janardan Sharma warned that they will be compelled to set up camps at Tundikhel of the capital if the government did not pay proper attention to Maoist camps. nepalnews.com pb Feb 13 07

As most of you, I am not surprised at all with the current developments. Nepal is (i should say was already) headed to a total state of anarchy. Political, economical, and ethnic unrest continues and is on the rise. All due to lack of having an institution to act as "Central Command" during such times. Ineffectiveness (for the lack of better word) of our internal institutions such as monarchy, military, and political system, to curve the unrest within the country has definitely opened the door for foreign institution to intervene in our internal matters (which is a shame and disrespectful to say that least).

Ahhh well just like we have to deal with our conequences, guess our nation will to (whatever it may be).

P.S. and yes if anyone out there still think maoists are going to be the part of solution rather than add onto more problems they've planted is totally absurd and lunatic at best.
