That's really great Idea.

Infact I have seen SAP user group of almost all country. I am sure forming this group of Nepal will surely be helpful for those who are working and also to those who are interested to go in SAP field.

Thanks for the wonderful idea.

:)

Hi friends,
I was brainstorming how we should go ahead to form this.

I think to start up with; we can take reference of some popular SAP users’ website like

Americas' SAP Users' Group (www.asug.com)
SAP Australian User Group (www.saug.com.au)
www.ittoolbox.com

I am not sure how the policies of SAJHA are. It would be great if SAJHA can provide domain for this users group.

Alternative I propose a domain like (Nepalese SAP users’ Group) www.nsug.org.np can be registered.

Looking for feedback from you all.

LOVE NEPAL ALWAYS :)

I was wondering where we can get SAP CD for installation.

I have tried to search it at bangkok when I used to study there but couldn't make it.

Can you suggest where I can get it.

FYI, I am at Kathmandu now.

LOVE NEPAL ALWAYS :)

Thanks San for the addtion! :)
Welcome to the Nepali SAP User group!

:)

Lovenepalalways..
what Modules are you trying to install?
you may be able to request evaluation copy from SAP.

I am not quite sure about getting a evaluation copy but it might work... i think you have to give them a valid reason of why/when/where are you planning to use it... for Siebel which i am familiar with, you either need to be a partner or a customer to get the modules/versions... but like i said there are a lot of offshore companies partnering up with a US ERP based firm for offshore training.. i am not sure if this is being done in Nepal but i know of a few places in Indian.. South India mainly that do these.... As we all know how the off shoring business is booming this might not be a bad thing to look into if someone has enough financial support to start something like this in Nepal itself. Done well i think this can be very profitable.

Ocenus.. I totally agree, I know few people back in Nepal who have established their own outsourcing companies however because of the political situation and goodwill its been tough unlike indian companies. Data Analytics / Data Mining are one of the Booming sectors that could be outsourced. I belive that Nepal has qualified individuals who just need an opportunity.
BTW I checked in my company to see if I could get a evaulation copy however, I found that the licence that my co. has does not allow them to distribute it.
No Luck there :S

Bond 007,
I am basically looking for SAP-BW. SD will also be fine.

I am not sure if this is valid reason to ask the evaluation copy. I am joining “Masters in Business – Enterprise Resource Planning Systems” in Australia in fall, 2007. The university has education alliance with SAP and all courses are taught on SAP platform. Even the final degree of this course is a joint degree of the university and SAP itself. So can I request SAP for an evaluation copy for a prospective student?

Ocenus,
Surely the business will be good but have to look for long term plan. Not only ERP, but I personally believe the whole business can be good on this. I, along with anyone interested, am planning to have such company in Nepal in future. May be people like us can start thinking in this. I have been wondering why the IT Business has not boomed in Nepal despite the fact that India is taking off straight high.

Two main reasons what I have seen are:
- Political Instability
- Lack of Infrastructure (Unreliable electricity, roads etc)

Do you see any other major reasons?

LOVE NEPAL ALWAYS :)
