I for one did not like what the King did, but with leaders like these who call for blockade of their own country.....i now think this is what drove the king to take over

NC once had a leader in BP who told his Indian friends that he would prefer to a subject of the Monarch than be Indira Gandhi's subject.

Why dont the leaders of NC give some serious thought about starting an another armed revolution in Nepal as they had done against the RANA RULE in 2007 Bikram Sambat with the help from India.

In the begining it looked like the Indians were pretty seriously against Gyane's takeover in Nepal therefore going as far as to stopping of military aid to Nepal.

NC leaders are in better position now to propose an another armed revolution in Nepal with the help of Indians, morever Congress( I) is in power in central government of India and historically Congress( I) leaders had good relationship with NC leaders since pre-independent India.

The Maoists had neither history nor an experience of doing an armed struggle in Nepal but still they managed to shake the hell out of Gyane. NC is in far beeter position as NC has both history and an experience of doing an armed struggle in Nepal. May be NC leaders should think more seriously about it now.

Highfly

Since the begining of human history there has always been wars and peace. If the human history were a coin, war and peace would be the two sides of that coin. Human history is a constantly revolving coin, sometimes you see one side of the coin while you see the other side of that coin.

Wars have brought great changes instantly and greatly shortened the waiting time therefore greatly reducing suffering for the "next" generation of people. Without the war, most probably the blacks would have had to wait until 1960s to end slavery in the US. American Civil war of 1860-63 brough the change instantly therefore the generation of people born after 186s in the southern US didnt had to live in slavery.

With the the war in Nepal, the establishment would have had never even think about re-writing the "out-of-date" and mostly unrealistic Constitution of Nepal of 1990. After the 2nd ceasefire in 2003, the establishment at least agreed to re-write that constitution (in theory at least). If the armed revolt would not have had happened, establishment would not give a crap about changing that ancient looking and mostly unrealistic and badly ridden with ancient mentality which are entrenched in the Constitution of Nepal 1990, the relevence of Monarchy system in Nepal and the question of control of Nepal Army.

War reduces waiting time for the next generation of people at an expence of some people of the current generation.

Are you worried about this generation or the next generation ? It's up to you make a choice.

The example you gave does not apply to Nepalese context. Civil war was for equal rights. The war in Nepal will bring communism. The war should be the last option not the first. Bharsta, you talk about war but let me know if you have balls to take a bullet.

If not do not talk about war. Call me selfish but I prefer peace cause my people are there in Nepal. I want stability. I do not want people fighting for thugs of NC, RPP, UML, MAo. Thats. Do not talk about war when u do not have to face it. Just tell me have u ever seen a people getting shot? U know how does it feel? Ask the children who saw peole getting shot? Just imgaine what if they are really close to them.

That was a good sermons Bhrasta_Netaa, albeit could have used for some fruitful purpose.

Just when all Nepalese are for peace, you could actually see/wish another group picking up arms. Bring the examples of pre-historic ages - to Napoleon - to American revolution (which you never fail to bring anyways) - to all and sundry, it'd still remain a self defeating sermons.

Neverthless, good job. I understand you have a capacity to think outside the box my friend, but bringing the stuffs from another planet is not what we need now. You seem to be well educated Bharasta_netaa, I know you can think better than that. Or you simply need a controversial topic to argue and give detailed lecture about American history/revolution.

I understand where your interest lies as far as monarchy & RNA goes. Trust me I feel the same way as well. We need to readdress these issues. But another bloody war in midst of all this? Isn't that invinting a holocaust in proportion to Rawanda & the likes?

Anyways, we might not agree on many things, but your thoughts urging/inviting another hurricane for Nepal & with it for Nepalese, which at best would match holocaust & at worst, might erase Nepal from the map; left be flabbergasted.

And oh yeah, I caught your reference to me & highfly in "Terrorist or Revolutionaries" thread rather late. Will try to express my reasons @ my convenience.

No offence bro, but could not help expressing myself.

IndisGuise:-o

Highfly

I'm ready to take "another" bullet as well.

The political picture of Nepal is different from that of American Civil war however the intent of bringing equality and social justice to all is no different. American civil war was fought against racial equality and against racial discrimination.

There is not an extensive slavery problem in Nepal as it existed in the US before 1860s however extensive racial discrimination is a reality and Baburam must have had seen the long term problems associated with it. If you ever have had a chance of looking at Baburam's 40 point demands (submitted in 1996 just days before opening the war), three demands (Point no 20,21 and 22) are explicitly mentioned to address the existing realities of racial inequality in Nepal.

In the Baburam's 40 point demands submitted in 1996, only 5 demands appears hardcore Communist ideals which I really dont like. I like to see those 5 demands be removed and scrapped. For the rest of the 35 demands (out of 40), they are very much worth fighting for the social justice and equality and is very realistic to the Nepali social and political context.

And have you ever read the constitution of Nepal 1990 which has provisions like "constitutional monarchy" and monarch and his relatives are above the law.

When Prince Harry of Britain can be arrested by police for smoking pot then why the f**k cant Parsh be arrested for "homocide" or at least "manslughter" charges, indicted and tried under grand jury.

Jenna Bush and Barbara Bush are the daughters of the most powerful man in this world but yet they were charged for DUI (Dtiving Under Influence) or drunk driving who the heck is Parash and Gyane. Why the heck should anyone treat Parash and Gyane like some unconquerable super-human beings above the law. I'll really support anyone (wether it is Maoist or anyone else).

Another such provision of the Constitution Nepal 1990 states Nepal as
Hindu kingdom. Isnt it a prefencial treatment to a perticular religion ? The US or Canada or Britain or Germany could well have incorporated a perticular religion into state and therefore called their country like Christain kingdom of Britain or Christain Dominion of Canada, Christian Republic of the Unites States of America or Christian Republic of Germany.

Another provision that Constituion of Nepal that handled really badly was the question of control of Nepal Army.
Why the heck would any poor Nepali taxpayers should and wanna pay for the military that they dont have control over while some else (monarch) who doesnt even pay for the military has the tight control over it ?

Bhrasta Netaji,

You don't need CPN Maoists style atrocities to change the constitution. Constitution can only be changed if other parties(pachhya haru) except the mandalays unite together. New constitution with a total control over every one including the King can be achieved if there is a merger of ambitions between paraliamentary parties and maoists. But the maoists want a communist state and this ambition will ultimately lead themselves to a total disappearance within a decade from now. And the King will continue to enjoy his unprecedented power kicking the rest of the political parties like football till he dies. Paras? He has no chance, sadly and ultimately either there will be a messy republican state or an Indian administered state in Nepal. Therefore, for everyone's benefit, King should step behind, maoists should put down their weapons and political parties should learn from their past mistakes. A rewritten constitution putting the king and the commoner in the same legal framework is the best solution to Nepal's crisis.

Nepal strikes back

Keshav Pradhan

Kathmandu, March 17, 2005

Leave us alone, says royal aide>/i>

Nepal launched a broadside against India on Thursday for skipping the Saarc summit last month and talking about the kingdom's political system while remaining oblivious of Maoist activities on its soil. It also criticised major donor countries for imposing their "ideas" on the Nepalese people.

"India is aware of the presence of Maoists (Nepalese) on its territory," said Tulsi Giri, King Gyanendra's seniormost deputy in the government. "We need not talk to it about them. The Maoists have links with the LTTE, People's War and Naxalites. How can India be oblivious of this and talk about the political system here?"

To support his argument, Giri quoted Indian newspapers and a speech reportedly made by Congress leader Karan Singh in Parliament.

Dragging Bhutanese King Jigme Singhe Wangchuck into the controversy, he said, "He also asked for measures to stop the Maoists who have posed a threat to neighbouring countries from Indian soil." He named Bangkok as another place where Maoists are located. Casting aside diplomatic niceties, Giri mockingly described the Bhutanese king as "the greatest democrat".

"Indian leaders did not mind shaking hands with him and making him their chief guest on Republic Day, but they refused to go to the Saarc," he said. There is a general impression here that India got the summit cancelled to avoid a direct meeting with the Nepalese monarch.

Giri also took a dig at friendly nations which called for a "representative government" in Nepal. "It's natural to react to something that you don't like, but you cannot impose your idea on anyone," he said. "It is up to the Nepalese to decide what they want? the king has repeatedly pledged his commitment to multi-party democracy? he has taken this step (the February 1 takeover) only to re-energise this system."

Giri criticised multi-party leaders for allowing themselves to be "remote-controlled" by others. "Diplomats host dinners for them, but they don't call us," he said. When asked to name the countries that were backing the politicians, Giri replied, "It's up to you to guess."
