It's better to spend 2 days in one place. And rather find what you r interested in too!
R u guys all young college kids or u have your own kids? That makes the difference too........

If you have only two days, you should just target LA and SD. They are not that far apart. There are places like Universal Studio, Hollywood, Disney Land, Sea World, SD Zoo that are famous but I don't think you have much time to go and enjoy those places. There are so many famous beaches too. Still you guys can see some of them.

hi purush, thanks for the info. we are 5 young boys with josh to visit the places. our plan is to drive maximum in the night and enjoy the daytime in visiting the destination places. so what should we focus more on LA and SD that will help us to utilize more of our time. Thanks for all the friends who are posting here.

In LA, you should go to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive too where most of the celebrities live.

San francisco-- mystery spot isn't that fun as it claims.
santa cruz is ok.
I recommend sandiego- Sea world and Zoo
Los angeles- universal studio, Hollywood (right there by the studio).
Venice broadwalk or even Malibu or santa monica beaches.

it might be better to hit L.A , hollywood, hari curi (indian food) and malibu beach. I don't know where you guys starting from but i would go to Vegas instead of san diego. It's two and half hrs drive. San francisco does not make sense unless you guys just want to spend time in the vehicle.
