Born in New Delhi, India, Zascha Moktan moved to Germany when she was 5, after a year in London. Her father, a Nepalese teacher, had met her German mom in India after her four-week vacation to India turned into an eight-year stay. When the family moved to England, Moktan's mother didn't want to stay there, so they moved then to her home country.

Music had always been in Moktan's life because both her parents were singer-songwriters and guitarists in their spare time, but her future career was jump-started on a military base in Frankfurt, where Moktan fell in love with a gospel choir full of American singers.

Zascha Moktan was already playing the piano by the age of eight. With her diverse German and Nepalese background, she has lived in London and Frankfurt, Germany where she currently resides. Zascha also sang in her school choir which solidified the development pf her incredible vocal range. In her teens, Zascha formed a band and they performed locally and practiced whenever they could. In 2000 they entered a German band contest and won – “Best Hessiche Newcomer Band” (Hessiche is a Federal State of Germany).

A chance meeting in 2002 brought Zascha to the attention of world renowned violinist Nigel Kennedy. Kennedy was so impressed with Zascha’s talent that he invited her to play some shows with him.
