kehoke,
Run the recovery disk and choose recovery, not format. If you do format, you will lose all data.

uday bro le hasayo!wahahaha ..i think avi meant password for windows ..not for sajha (since she is posting here using her nick? yeah blame avi for misleading u!and im sure u aint the only one being misled!;oP oh dun mind me..if im the one whos mistaken here! ) hey avi got this from google..dunno if u already tried it..it seems too simple so dunno if it will work..but here was one method that was suggested- Go to safe mode and login as Administrator and then follow this path:- Start>Control Panel>User Accounts...Click
on your username and change Password:- Give a new password. It will not
ask you for the old one
Hope that works..if it doesnt..here are some help from microsoft itself..one is using a password reset disk..hope u have that...if not try the other methods.. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321305good luck!:oD and goodluck to kehoke too ps avi, wat kinda crap password did u put in the 1st place to not remember?

You have few options to choose from when recovering hard disk. 1) use some known tools like testdisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download) 2) use recovery cd from microsoft. 3) use chkdsk to recover data. (user the appropriate flags to do so (usually /f and/or /x and/or /r. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/chkdsk.mspx?mfr=true 4) mount the drive in linux and run ( dd if=/dev/$yourharddrive$ of=$new place$ ) remember the new drive should have enough space to hold the data. As for password recovery. 1) Start your computer normally. 2) Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to login as Administrator 3) If you have password for administrator use it to login. OR login using any account with Administrative privileges. 4) open Command by typing cmd in run window. (Start => run => type "cmd" and enter). 5) In command prompt type ==> net user 6) If you see the user name that you need to change password for, type => net user $username$ * ***** Remember to replace $username$ with the original username that you need to change password for. 7) Command prompt will ask you for the new password, type the new password twice and you are all set. 8) Viola, you can login to your computer using the username and new password that you just changed.

kehoke does your pc show initial boot screen (first screen showing name of manufacturer/motherboard etc). If yes then try to go to bios setup and check whether it detects hard disk or not, if not your hard disk is gone. If you can it could just be the sector problem. We can talk about that later, first just show your initial results.

Ok here is my solution, it might be a little pain though. Get the latest version of ubuntu linux on cd and get an external hard drive or something like that. Hook up the external hard drive and boot with the cd. Ubuntu boots up and logs you in as live user. There click places->Computer and there is a good chance your hard disk will show up there, get in there and copy the contents and paste in your external hard disk. You can reboot after backup and do whatever you want with the disk.

If you can see the hard disk during POST (initial reboot), go to BIOS setting and format your drive. The problem with your hard drive may have been caused by bad sectors or cylinders. Formatting it will resolve most of the problem. However, if you have recently updated your BIOS firmware, it may have caused the problem due to incompatible or unsupported hard disk driver. If you can see the drive during POST, try formatting and loading Windows or any other OS like UBUNTU, RedHat, SUSE, or Fedora. Remember, if you can format the drive using BIOS settings, but the OS was unable to see your drive during installation, it is a certain sign of unsupported disk driver. Try loading different disk driver if thats the case. I personally think OpenSuSE is the best candidate for this test as you have options to go back and load kernel modules during installation. Good luck...

I am not a computer expert, last year i had blank screen, i was worried if my computer screwed up. It turned out my monitor was the problem,i changed my monitor and my screen worked. If you go to best buy or circiut city they will help you with some charge.
