.By the definition of Visa, even 1 day should be sufficient.
If you make to the port of entry by the expiration day of Visa and you are in status with your current and original I20s, there should not be any problem, theoretically.

Well when I came back from Nepal the last time I went, I only had 4 months visa left. The guy only told me to get my visa renewed the next time I go back. So 6 months minimum is bogus!!

Last time, when i returned from kathmandu, my visa was only valid for slightly more than a month.the inspector at the port of entry simply asked " you didnt renew your visa?" then i replied him" yes, i had only few days left to return for classes, and there was a long queue in US embassy of Nepal to have visa interview appointment, thats why". then he took it very easily and simply said "i see, thats okay"
hope this helps

As long as your visa is valid you are fine. Doesn't matter whether it is valid for a year or one day! Visa is just a permit for you to enter the country so as long as you enter before the expiration date you will be fine.
