I am not comparing NEPAL with China....

Nepalese people are skilled on" both side"..the only concern is that whether the skill is heading constructively.... and the bitter truth is that nepali skill is divided..It's plain and simple...one goes for constrive ones and the other for destructive ones...

I am just urging people to unite in difficult times and work together....It's not about winning a war... It's always easy to win war, but it's very difficult to win PEACE.......

...

i agree wholeheartedly. i think it is the first time in many days that we are agreeing on anything. but i totally respect your view.

the people must unite. and they must move our nation forward. no-one else can.

In 1768, after ten years of preparation, siege, and attack, Kathmandu fell to Gorkha on the day of the festival of Indra and the Virgin Goddess. Prithvi Narayan died in 1775 and was succeeded by his son Bahadur Shah. The new Shah rulers, transferring their seat of power to Kathmandu after its conquest, undertook to expand and consolidate their territory. But in 1790, their troops met Chinese resistance while marching to Tibet, then a vassal of China. The 70,000 Chinese troops pushed the Gorkhas back into Nepal and defeat. The treaty stipulated that Nepal send the Chinese emperor a tribute every five years. This was done all the way up to 1912.
After World War II, many changes were taking place. Colonies were gaining independence, particularly India from Great Britain. The Communists of China invaded Tibet, forcing many refugees to flee to Nepal and India.

Asia ji
It was not Bahadur Shah who succeeded Prithvi Narayan Shah. It was Prithvi's eldest son Pratap Singh Shah who succeeded him. However, the younger brother Bahadur Shah took the command of unification process with the support of Bahadur's wife, queen Rajeshwori Devi. This is what I remember from what I read in social studies books more then a decade ago. Your expertise on the history of Nepal is flawed in the very beginning. I hope you won't post wrong informations ahead.

Guys, world has undergone unprecedented transformation in the last 300 years. It is irrelevant to bestow faith on Gyanendra just because the contributions of Prithvi Narayan Shah on the unification of Nepal. The Russians respect Tsar Alexander, French respect Nepolean, Chinese respect Quin Shihuang but no one knows what their great grand sons/daughters are doing now. We should remember Prithvi Narayan for his contribution but we can't acquit Gyanendra for his stupid actions just because of his blood relations. This is like admiring a drug taking son of a good man. And don't forget-Prithvi Narayan Shah didn't fought himself during the unification process, Nepalese people faught the war.
More important thing is, don't look behind and be complacent about the past. Look for the future, future with Gyanendra looks terribly bleak.

Is Nepal seeking a distance from Indian influence. Is there a hidden tussle going on, the koshi dam project meeting was cancelled, vieled threat of obtaining weapons from other countries...are all these signs of a deviated foreign policy of snubbing Indian weby influence?
Will King G and his team handle the diplomatic rift and the threats of aid cuts?
Will it be wise to antagonize the key regional and global players dictating policies in Nepal, will the success be in greater interest of Nepal. Will the people back King G in case India seeks to punish him and Nepal for any such percieved threats to Indian interest by the South paw?
Will and can India forment social and economic anarchy to compell Nepal to submit to its interest?

Remeber,
Even in the golden yesteryears, Nepal stood proudly against its giant neighbours...
Oblivion of the existence of the' new west', nepal took great stride in social, economical development...

....now it's upto the people to decide when was that golden age for nepal...
it's time to discuss on that...

so let us better discuss about nepal's history and then we can see everything 'as per grand design' .....

in the discussion, people from all walks of life are welcome...DALLI or ARDALEE, all r welcome :)

wanna see a test match between nepal and india????

sure, but it's not for cricket players..rather indian politicians vs. nepalese ones

look at for details:

http://us.rediff.com/news/2005/feb/25flip.htm

I am RELEIVED that india at least cannot take a risk of winning this test match, so the best they can opt for is to go for a DRAW..

yeah, a draw with nepal KING.....

..and for that, they have to provide arms to royal army..and support KING..
